Name
[edit]I moved this page to "Pinson Mounds," since the area has gone by numerous names over the past 50 years. The official name is currently "Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Park." In the 1970s and 1980s, it was "Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Area," which the sign in Pinson still attests. It has also been called the "Pinson Mounds Complex" and various other designations by archaeologists who conducted excavations there before the state purchased the property.
