Nominations Table

[edit]

I don't want to create a fuss here, but shouldn't the nominations table be the same as all the other nations' nominations tables? Just a thought. FireSpike 18:57, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I made the table more like the other ones from the other countries. Some important changes:
  • I have eliminated the "saved" row. The precedent on the matter seems to be that readers can use deductive reasoning to tell them that the nominees that aren't listed as evicted were saved.
  • Instead of using "#1" for each round of nominations, the precedents for nominations tables seem to be that the date listed above nominations for that round is the day that the eviction will take place.
  • In the "Evicted" row, the evicted housemates should have the pinkish color used in the chart currently. Also, it important that after the percentage of votes listed, that it is indicated whether or not the viewers were voting "to evict" or "to save". The runner-up should have a light, pale blue color, and the eventual winner will have a minty green color.

These changes help make the Big Brother articles more uniform, thus fulfilling one of the goals of WP:BIGBRO. FireSpike 19:33, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is a tricky one, should the people that were immune but still able to nominate have a color in their nominations box? Also, should Kian have the blue color behind his nominations since that blue has meant "Banned from Nominations" in the past. He wasn't really banned. Personally, I think that those colors are unecessary. Any thoughts on the issue? FireSpike 17:51, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think, going along with the other nominations tables, that if they do nominate then they should have the plain background colour, unless they are nominating from a different location/room. For examples from BB7 UK, in Week 4 when Suzie nominated as the only nominator, she was automatically immune from nominations, and in Week 5 when a group of housemates had to nominate each other face to face, they were being punished but they all still had the normal background colour. Tra (Talk) 22:42, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've a proposal for the nominations table, what with the mess the ex-housemates going back in the house has caused to this table.

^Note 1 : The four secret housemates were put up for eviction because only two people were needed to complete the official housemate roster of fourteen.
^Note 2 : Among the six housemates who were reprimanded by Big Brother because of various violations to house rules, Kian lost the determining game and was therefore automatically nominated. The two additional housemates, Bodie and Maricris, were exempt from the nominations process, while Ezekiel and Dionne were immune from eviction.
^Note 3 : Kian became immune from nomination due to his win in the special games on Day 28 and his escape from eviction the following night. Beatriz answered the seventh call from the big red telephone, signalling her automatic nomination. Wendy originally used her power of changing the official list of nominees by replacing her name with that of Maricris. But after much reconsideration and a burst of emotion, she asked Big Brother to reverse her decision. Later that night, Big Brother reinstated the original official list of nominees.
^Note 4 : There were no nominations on the day of the announcement of nominees. Big Brother automatically put Gee-Ann, Kian, Bodie, and Dionne up for eviction because of Gee-Ann's breach in the five-pound weight gain rule (see above) and Kian, Bodie, and Dionne's negligence in using their lapel microphones.
^Note 5 : Bruce was given an exemption on Day 63 from the next nomination round for his accomplishment in the Big Brother Swap. Mickey was also given immunity for winning a special game back in Day 36. Wendy was put up automatically for eviction because of her accidental misuse of her lapel microphone, despite her admission to the mistake she did. On Day 65, even before the fourth nomination round could even take place, Maricris was forced out of the House by Big Brother because of her acts and thoughts of violence against herself and several other housemates. On Day 65, after Maricris left, Mickey kissed Saicy, which signaled her automatic nomination. Because of the number of nominees already up for eviction, only Dionne, the highest earner of nomination votes, was included and not Beatriz, the second highest earner. As a side note, the two names given by Mickey were his first two choices to whom he would give the kiss of Judas.
^Note 6 : Geraldine and Yen entered the House on Day 70 so they were exempted from nominations. Through a special election on Day 77, the other housemates voted for Yen to stay in the House. Also, there were four ex-housemates who re-entered the House on Day 78. However only two will stay inside the House; this is being determined by public voting.

I think the Yen votes can be considered nominations, but then it's for her to stay in the house (got that covered in the notes section). I've noted that there were two eviction dates and two nomination dates, with the latter nomination date actually for saving someone (although there could be interpretation problems here).
For me, this table I proposed would work. But you guys decide. Anyways, I think we could just do what the BB7 UK article did for their nominations' table. Instead of creating another column and stating that the four ex-housemates re-entered the house, we could do away with that and just say next to their Evicted thingy... Re-evicted. --Hakushu8 01:53, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we can follow the BB UK 7 site. I'll be changing the nominations table. Please edit it, or undo if you wish. I will retain the re-entry block just to say that these housemates re-entered.LordBelly06 (talk) 09:03, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the phrase "No Nominations" to "No Nom's" to make the table look neater. Also, why aren't the names of the HM's bold, also the terms "Big Winner", "2nd Place" and so on? LordBelly06 (talk) 15:22, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am wondering why Wendy, Kian, Jasmin and Exekiel re-entered on Day 78 even if they were just in the secret room? Shouldn't the re-entry date be on the day when they actually entered the main house?LordBelly06 (talk) 01:44, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting the article

[edit]

I've notice that the size of the article is now 32KB and will get longer as the season progresses. I'm thinking of splitting the article up into several articles that include:

  • The list of housemates
  • Chronology of important events
  • Nomination history

I'm just asking for opinions here. You can also give suggestions just to keep this article's file size small. - 上村七美 | talk 15:21, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How about Shrinking instead of splitting? --Howard the Duck 02:43, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is the result of refocusing: I've reduced the section about summary of tasks into just of the weekly tasks. Relevant daily tasks are to be listed in the chronology section. - 上村七美 | talk 10:30, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Weight rule?

[edit]

Someone should explain what that is in the article. FireSpike 00:09, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Basically, on Day 1, the housemates their weight. Every week, Big Brother checks on the housemates' weights. Although there is no reward (just kudos) to those who successfully lose weight, there will be actions against those who gained more than five pounds during their stay. I didn't understand it at first, but it became clear when Gee-Ann gained slightly more than five points during her five week stay in the House. - 上村七美 | talk 01:38, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, I thought it was Big Brother not The Biggest Loser -- 3bay sam 15:34, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Big Swap

[edit]

I've just heard that there will be what they call a Big Swap. What was that for? (I'm very sorry, I'm quite unupdated. Ü) Zxyggrhyn 03:20, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think Tina should appear on the infobox, albeit when she leaves, there should a new color key for her, and bruce's swapping, too. --Howard the Duck 16:06, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Terms used in the Table

[edit]

Maricris being Ejected is the proper term, and that term has been used for the other Big Brother articles. It's confusing for readers from other countries to see Forced Eviction, or even Exited Voluntarily. Why provide a new color scheme and name when the commonality of all BB wikipedia articles should be maintained? --Hakushu8 22:08, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not all BBs are the same. For example, not all conduct "swaps". --Howard the Duck 02:49, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And not all use the word "Ejection" and "Walking", like the UK version does. In the second season of the US version, a forced eviction there is called an expulsion, or sometimes removal in other countries like Slovenia. So what we can use in this article should be what term is used in the show and not what other versions use just for assimilation purposes. See Big Brother WikiProject page for details. - 上村七美 | talk 03:07, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
From here, someone changed it to Expulsion to Ejected.
Anyways, I understand now with the wording. I'm sorry. But how about the color scheme? I think it should still be      like the other BB wikipedias, because this color is uniform throughout.      shouldn't be used. --Hakushu8 14:08, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You have a point; although the terms are different they are basically the same. I'd support using other BB's color schemes for ejections/forced evictions. --Howard the Duck 15:33, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I used orange is because when the season ends and the housemates infobox becomes an endgame infobox, the one marked "forced eviction" will be given an orange box, as opposed to the light yellow "walk" box. But since you like uniformity, I may apply the color you suggested. - 上村七美 | talk 15:48, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Little box

[edit]

Can somebody get rid of the little box at the bottom, near the PBB nav template? --Howard the Duck 12:04, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it's the nav template itself that's the problem; its code has the box and I can't remove the box without altering the code. - 上村七美 | talk 16:02, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed it. It seemed to be a stray table tag. Tra (Talk) 16:06, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know...

[edit]
Which means this article has to be trimmed down. --Howard the Duck 16:24, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As much as I want to trim it down, as of now, I can't. Many Big Brother articles are large, like Big Brother Australia 2006 which is over 104kb long because it has to include everything from nomination history to important events. Maybe I can move the criticisms section to the main article. - 上村七美 | talk 10:12, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it'll be trimmed down after this is over as we would know by then which is important and which isn't. --Howard the Duck 10:52, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok this now in an astounding 72 kilobytes, something has to be cut down, like the list of activities in the "swap" section: it can be summarized into one nifty sentence: "The swapped housemates had been immersed into each other's cultures." For an example, see Big Brother 2005 (UK). --Howard the Duck 14:35, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions: Cut down the weekly task information into description, the housemates' weekly budget bet, and if they succeeded or failed. The Criticism section should only be placed in the main PBB article. And only give an overview to the week's activities/events. --Hakushu8 15:41, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Summarize the weekly tasks on a table. Made an earlier attempt earlier (with the other tasks), but was removed. Maybe later in this season. - 上村七美 | talk 16:10, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the criticism of JJR is for this specific season, so it is wrong to include it in the main PBB article. --Howard the Duck 15:46, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is still important to put in the main article since it is a chronology. Also put it under fifteen minutes of fame. - 上村七美 | talk 15:51, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK you people may add that to the main PBB article but only as summary since his criticism is only for this season; JJR even commended the earlier versions of this show. --Howard the Duck 15:57, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you are worrying about the every growing size of this article, I've already decided to turn the chronology section into a separate article. I've also proposed to do the same thing with the housemates when the this season is over. Will that be fine? - 上村七美 | talk 15:26, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I dunno about the housemates or even splitting the article... it should be summarized. This was the problem in the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs article (it reached 100kb), maybe the formatting can be cut down... but maybe the bulk of the things shouldn't be there; for example, is it relevant today on Ge-Ann's early difficulties on her weight, and other things. --Howard the Duck 15:52, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure about that. But I am proposing of turning the weekly tasks section into just a table, but I don't know if the following tasks will fit in:
    • 100 treasures (budget depends on the coins they collected)
    • Summeryenda ni Kuya (nothing was bet)
    • Pang-Sirko Tayo (budget was dependent on the acts they achieved)
Do I have to put notes? BTW, it's just a proposal, but I hope this helps. - 上村七美 | talk 12:20, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about scrapping the events that didn't affect evictions (nominations, walk outs, etc.) for that week? That'll might eliminate things. --Howard the Duck 12:23, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I already created a separate article for the Housemates and Houseguests. That way, the main article is shortned.LordBelly06 (talk) 05:59, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Housemates' stay in the House

[edit]

I'm a bit confused with the right number of Days that should be stated with regards to the length of stay of the housemates in the PBB house. According to the official website, right now the remaining 4 (First Batch) housemates have been in the house for 76 days and ~2 hours. Now the live eviction starts in ~1 hour, and in this article we say that the eviction occurs in Day 77. Shouldn't we follow the website? Any thoughts?

Although, maybe the website has its mistakes/screw-ups too. It hasn't even added Geraldine or Yen to the housemate list. --Hakushu8 13:47, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ABS-CBN counts the first day as "Day 0". We count the first day as "Day 1." --Howard the Duck 14:56, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, what happens in one day gets shown the next day. That is why the network screwed up the count, even in Season 1. - 上村七美 | talk 15:33, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've seen someone said that somewhere. Just forgot about it. --Hakushu8 15:19, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did anyone else catch yesterday's mistake with the Day count? They said Sunday (when the ex-housemates returned) was Day 80... but in this article that is only Day 78. Weird. --Hakushu8 01:53, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did catch that mistake, and I know its their mistake because we keep track of the days, especially based on the benchmark. - 上村七美 | talk 08:25, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's safe now to remove the disclaimer you've made on Week 12 under Chronology of Important Events, just for the sake of reducing the size of the article. --Hakushu8 16:22, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe transform it into a sentence, since it is quite notable, since when was the last time BB made wrong day counts? Something to the effect "On <Date (May xx)>, the show fumbled on its day counts, it was remedied on <Date (May xx)>. We can state at the very start we used the first day as "Day 1." --Howard the Duck 16:29, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A comment on the days' usage in this article: Is it necessary to say the exact date of the day that is being referred? Cause, for example in the Nominations' Table, if we just say the day number of the nomination/eviction, and not mention the date, then I think it's still fine. --Hakushu8 16:22, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Upgraded to C-Class

[edit]

I have upgraded this article to C-Class as it meets the criteria, the article has a good amount of information but not enough yet for B-Class. More reliable sources would be good to improve the article. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 22:54, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most Talked About?

[edit]

In the intro paragraph, it was stated that PBB 2, "was the most talk-about season of Pinoy Big Brother." The statement seems bias and probably base on fans' opinion. How would one actually measure up if a season is the "most talked about" season? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.201.178.195 (talk) 18:35, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
