History

[edit]

The reaction was discovered by Wilhelm Rudolph Fittig in 1860, but it took several years before the mechanism was revealed by .... in .....Wilhelm Rudolph Fittig (1860). "Ueber einige Derivate des Acetons". Annalen der Chemie und Pharmacie. 114 (1): 54–63. doi:10.1002/jlac.18601140107.--Stone (talk) 17:39, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jerome A. Berson (2002). "What Is a Discovery? Carbon Skeletal Rearrangements as Counter-Examples to the Rule of Minimal Structural Change". Angewandte Chemie International Edition. 41 (24): 4655–4660. doi:10.1002/anie.200290007. is the story about the Pinacol rearrangement.--Stone (talk) 07:52, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reaction is missing

[edit]

In the "Example of asymmetrical pinacol rearrangement" section, a reaction is referred to but there is no diagram to show what the reaction is. I'd say that either a diagram of the reaction should be added or the section should be removed. 99.167.202.76 (talk) 23:50, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
