GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

OVERALL: Excellent job on this article. References are perfectly formatted and the gameplay is well described. I have given basic comments on how to bring this article to GA standards. If you have any questions on the review, you may leave them here as this is on my watchlist.

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
    B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
  2. Is it verifiable with no original research, as shown by a source spot-check?
    A. It contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline:
    B. Reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose):
    C. It contains no original research:
    D. It contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. It addresses the main aspects of the topic:
    B. It stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style):
  4. Is it neutral?
It represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each:
  5. Is it stable?
It does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute:
  6. Is it illustrated, if possible, by images?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content:
    B. Images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
Comment: My one concern is that the gameplay screenshot file is tagged with a notice stating the image should be uploaded in PNG or SVG format rather than JPG. This shold not be a major problem. Fixed.
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
A final decision will be raised in a week (maximum). Until then, you are to fix everything specified. If you will not be able to respond to all comments in that time, let me know on this page.

Comments

[edit]
Lead
  • This section should mention exactly when the game was released for SNES in Japan and North America. The infobox should summarize all the prose of the article.
  • In the beginning of the third paragraph, simply The game was well received... will do.
Development
  • The game's musical score was composed by Soyo Oka... Specify nationality and profession of Oka, even if it's obvious. "Japanese-born musician Soyo Oka" maybe? Do not wikilink Japanese or musician, remember.'
  • This section never explicitly mentions the date that Pilotwings was released in any country.
  • Because the game does not use true SNES 3D technology... Because the game does not use the coprocessor chip Super FX, the true SNES 3D technology... Fix vague sentence as specified.
  • At the end of the section, could you briefly explain how Dragonfly is similar to Pilotwings? The sentence is quite vague on its own.
Reception and legacy
  • Pilotwings is referred to by its name too often. Replace a few of these references with simply "the game" or "it". One game title reference per paragraph will suffice.
  • Discuss briefly about the cancelled second 64 sequel.
  • ...but that Nintendo was "not confident" in publishing it. That quotation was not found anywhere in the source that is cited.
  • Pilotwings Resort was released as a launch title for the 3DS in North America on March 27th, 2011.The new title was released as a launch title for the 3DS in North America on March 27, 2011. Once again, avoid the repetitive title reference as it doesn't flow very nicely. Change the date formatting as well, per WP:DATESNO.

Seriously, that's all the issues I found in the article. Long wait for a small review... —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 20:55, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have done everything but changing the image. I don't really know how to upload or edit an image. GamerPro64 01:44, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A little typo you made where you have two spaces between "the" and "coprocessor". Be sure to fix that. As for the image, I'll try and see if I can fix that myself. :) —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 15:04, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I got an image. Take a look at this. If it's good, embed it. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 15:14, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I changed the image to the one you uploaded and I fixed the spacing as well. GamerPro64 15:26, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see no further issue that needs to be addressed for now. Pass. Good work and keep it up. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 15:35, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
