I created this article as part of a series of articles I have created about people who won the Nansen Refugee Award. He was awarded it posthumously just after his death. i.e. it was his death that prompted the award, which is a pattern amongst the winners. Now, he is an exceptional individual, and could claim notability for being the youngest general, or just for the many things he did to support refugees, but it was indeed his award that prompted me to write the article and that was a direct result of his death, which was a result of the train hitting his car. So I would say it was significant in his notability. Of course, I recognise that people could debate that. But I seek your consensus to add it back in, I think it is overall more helpful for the reader. CT55555 (talk) 02:55, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The fact of his death may have prompted the award, but it doesn't seem to be the case that the cause of death was relevant to it? Had he died of some other cause would he not have received the award? Nikkimaria (talk) 02:59, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good question. I think probably any sudden death would have prompted it. That seems to be the trend when I compare him with the laureate peers. Dying because a crossing guard negligently waved someone through is pretty newsworthy, dramatic, notable and therefore it feels intuitive to keep it in, but if I'm not convincing you at this point, I'll stop here, this isn't very important.
