Hi Memer15151, I will be reviewing this article and hope to get the review done quickly (within 10-15 days) because the article is concise and doesn't have many major issues on first glance. After seeing your user page notice, I hope your computer is running, please let me know if it is mot. Cheers Matarisvan (talk) 21:52, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- I have a new computer now, I'll be able to work on this article and any feedback you have. Thank you! UserMemer (chat) Tribs 21:56, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Memer15151, my prose review:
- Add the age in the Died column in the infobox? I reckon there was a parameter to do so.
- In the Allegiance column in the infobox, link to the Firsy French Republic and the First French Empire?
- Translate sous-lieutenant as second lieutenant?
- Add the Category:Nobility of the First French Empire?
- Link to the Legion of Honour in the body as done in the infobox?
- Add the war each battle was fought in and its brief context for all the battles listed in the body?
- Matarisvan (talk) 16:38, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Some more comments:
- Link to Hougoumont in the body as done in the infobox?
- Link to Jerome Bonaparte in the body as done in the lead?
- Gloss that the Bourbons were the ruling dynasty per NOFORCELINK?
- Gloss that Quatre Bras and Waterloo were in modern Belgium, and that they were fought on 16 and 18 June 1815, per NOFORCELINK?
- Add the Battle of Quatre Bras in the infobox?
- Add Category:French military personnel of the Napoleonic Wars, if it is relevant even though the other category is there?
- Will add more comments soon, along with the image and source reviews. Matarisvan (talk) 16:55, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Matarisvan I have addressed your initial prose review and additional comments. If there are any other issues with the prose you spotted, I will fix them hastily. UserMemer (chat) Tribs 19:24, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Some sources I think you should add before I start the source review:
- Waterloo by Gordon Corrigan, p. 197-198
- On the Fields of Glory by Uffindell & Corum, p. 157, especially the quote by Foy and the context on Hougoumont in the same paragraph
- Hoogoumont by Paget and Sanders, ISBN 9780850523416
- Albert de Marquette
- Orders and Apostilles of Napoleon 1: [1]
- I'm trying to find more, but these have good details on Bauduin's role in Waterloo and his creation as a noble. Matarisvan (talk) 13:33, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- I was able to extract some information about Bauduin and his involvement in the wars from the provided sources, but I couldn't access some of the books such as Waterloo by Gordon Corrigan. Is there a way to access these books for free? The Wikipedia Library didn't seem to have these books, and the nearest library that contains one of the listed books is far away from where I live. - @Memer15151, before I do the spot checks for the source reviews, I recommend that you replace some sources, namely #1, #3-5 and #8. I reckon that you might also have to remove #7 because it is a primary source, and replace it with the book by Georges Six cited in #5. Also, I will try to get access to Corrigan & Paget and Sanders for you. I think de Marquette should be available for free on archive.org. Also, you should add the locations of publication for Buttery 2013 (Barnsley) and Uffindell & Corum 2002 (London and Mechanicsburg). I will also try to find more recent, scholarly sources you can use here. Matarisvan (talk) 11:52, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- I have implemented the requested changes and replaced the sources with what they cited. For the Mullie book, I kept the citations but instead of replacing with the source for the frenchempire.net article (Georges Six), I added the citations for the source to go alongside Mullie's primary accounts of the general. UserMemer (chat) Tribs 22:30, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Wellington's Foot Guards at Waterloo (Burnham and McGuigan, 2018) has been added and gives some information about the advance through the forest. UserMemer (chat) Tribs 23:08, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

- @Memer15151, further comments:
- Source review
- I believe we are referring to Volume 2 of Six 1934. If that is correct, could you add the page number(s)? Could you also this URL [2] from archive.org? Google Books does not display the book even though it is out of copyright, while archive.org does.
- Add the page number(s) for Charavay & Charavay 1893?
- For Buttery 2013, post the full chapter title, namely "Chapter 3. The Struggle for Hougoumont"?
- I wonder if there are more post-1950 or post-1960 sources we could add here? According to Wikipedia guidelines, recent sources which are not older than 60 to 70 years are preferred. Please let me know if you find any, I will check myself too.
- Image review
- Licensing of the images seems alright.
- Add alt texts for both the images?
- Once these are done, and some new recent sources are found, I will do the spot checks. Matarisvan (talk) 17:34, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, I will be able to get this done later today. UserMemer (chat) Tribs 17:49, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- Sources
- Georges Six: The name Bauduin is mentioned in Volume 1 on p. 62. Not mentioned in vol. 2 as the names are in alphabetical order.
- Charavay & Charavay: Using Google Books I found the mentions of Bauduin pages 201-203.
- Buttery: Done, but I am wondering if I might have to replace the source with Google Books as the "erenow" library seems to now redirect to an adware scam that wasn't there before. That's why I added the archive, but I'm unsure if I might have to switch out the website for the source entirely.
- I'll check for any contemporary reliable sources that might add some extra information or further verify some statements in the article.
- Images
- Regarding the images, alt texts have just been added.
