Polularity Ranking?

Should not the most common usage (SI Units) be ranked first?

Meaning of pico

[edit]

Unfortunately, a well meaning editor has removed all context about the meaning of pico. Many georgraphical places and other things are named pico because of what it means. As its not an English word, this context is helpful and should be included. Candleabracadabra (talk) 17:38, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Definitions and etymology are why we link to Wiktionary. Aside from occasional exceptions, disambiguation pages are not appropriate for including unreferenced definitions and etymology. olderwiser 17:48, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The meaning of the word is obviously relevant since most of the usages in the long list relate to it. This is an encyclopedia and our purpose is to provide useful explanations of the subjects we cover. Excluding the meaning of pico does not serve our readers. Saying "well it's linked" is a poor excuse for degrading our coverage of the subject. Candleabracadabra (talk) 17:55, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to attempt to write an article about the word, that might be OK, although Wikipedia is not a dictionary. But such content is not appropriate for a disambiguation page. olderwiser 18:01, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I just hope you don't go around fucking up other pages like Miramar the way you've messed this one up. Stupid is as stupid does -Forrest Gump Candleabracadabra (talk) 18:21, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Good to see you have such a firm grasp of editing guidelines. I'll refrain from editing that page, but I will tag it for clean up and let other voices weigh in. olderwiser 18:36, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, where is the short description? If you can do it better than I: have at it. But don't eliminate it. You obviously misunderstood policy, I've corrected you, now please set the page right for our readers. Thanks. Candleabracadabra (talk) 20:26, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
How have I misunderstood policy? I don't agree that in this case a brief definition is either helpful or possible. olderwiser 20:57, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
