Phrenological Readings

[edit]

I know the following exist, but could not find them:

  • The reading from George A. Smith exists, but is unpublished as of 2020. It is in box 177 at the University of Utah Libraries, Special Collections.

Special Collections, J. Willard Marriott Library. http://archiveswest.orbiscascade.org/ark:/80444/xv66580

  • The reading from Brigham Young was apparently copied into his 1843 journal, which I cannot find online.
  • Apparently James Strang's reading is printed somewhere in the Northern Islander. I could not find it: https://archive.org/details/NorthernIslander18501856/mode/2up
  • James Monroe made phrenological readings of his pupils, the children of Smith and Young in 1845. Apparently it is in his diary, which is on a microfilm at the Lovejoy library at Southern Illinois University. Epachamo (talk) 02:51, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps we should include a sidebar making it clear that this article is not intended to imply that people who subscribe to certain religions should "have their heads examined". – AndyFielding (talk) 16:53, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
