Schedule 1

[edit]

What Idiot classed this as more abusable/dangerous that crystal Meth, Morphine, Oxycodone, Cocaine. And with no medicinal value? Surely no developed Country (5 year old, never mind country) decided this? I hope nobody's been charged :/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.30.229.218 (talk) 13:41, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The US system doesn't really take into account the harm of the drug, rather the stigma associated with it. GHB is also a schedule I drug yet it's FDA approved for the treatment of narcolepsy and clinical studies rate it as less harmful than alcohol. 90.205.124.196 (talk) 06:00, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It certainly seems odd to an outsider. Generic pholcodeine linctus can be bought at a low price from any UK pharmacy and there is no history of abuse or addiction that I'm aware of. (I don't think it's a very effective antitussive, but that's a different issue). --Ef80 (talk) 11:53, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Half Life

[edit]

Half life of three - what is the unit on this? 220.239.35.152 21:54, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quite agree - I removed the figure as IMHO it's worse than useless to have a figure with no units194.6.107.209 12:56, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Jethro[reply]

Is this really schedule 1 in the US? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cobra Control (talkcontribs) 21:05, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it's listed here on the DEA website.

ester branch location?

[edit]

What if the 3 position of the Pholcodine was moved to the 6, would it be a highly active and long lasting mu agonist? Nagelfar (talk) 14:04, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Efficacy

[edit]

As someone without training in medicine or pharmacy, I'd welcome comments from specialists on the efficacy of pholcodine. which I realise has been called into question. I'm sure that many other readers would appreciate some discussion of this topic too.

Anaphylaxis during general anaesthesia

[edit]

There's a step in the argument that needs to be added: what's the chemical property of the NMBAs that causes the anaphylaxis? S C Cheese (talk) 11:28, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
