[edit]Anyone have any objections to the insertion of the following sourced material:
- Morrison joined the Young Communist League in 1938 and the Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA) in 1939 while studying physics at the University of California Berkely.
- Source: * Philip Morrison testimony, 7 and 8 May 1953, "Subversive Influence in the Educational Process," U.S. Congress, Senate, Committee on the Judiciary, 83rd Congress, 1st Session, part 9, pgs. 899-919.

Tell us more. How long did he remain a member? A week? Forty years? A card-carrying Communist at Los Alamos in the inner circle of the Manhattan Project? Or had he left the CP before than , just as Oppenheimer had (long) left it? Groves kept Bohm from a clearance, why not Morrison? (For example of an interesting question.) Tell us more of this most interesting phase of his life. Is that ref the Congressional Record, or what is it? GangofOne 21:42, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Removed, now broken, link to SETI.org. I have always admired Professor Morrison. It is a shame that SETI.org has dropped this link being the influence he had for their use of microwaves. He seem to be born of the same enthusiasm as Richard P. Feynman. (IchBin 19:42, 1 January 2006 (UTC))
- Speaking of Feynman, I've heard that he and Morrison shared an office while they were both at Cornell. Does anyone know if this is true? Rglovejoy 02:18, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes.
Back in the '30s everyone and his brother joined the U.S. Communist Party. There's nothing remarkable about Morrison joining around that time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.223.130.32 (talk) 23:30, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
- no , everyone did not Join! such hyperbole! no I know communists from the 70s. dont knwo if they still are , but they were not "everyone" , wager that many joined to meet women, they were nerds, geeks, etc Juror1 (talk) 18:10, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

I'm glad to see your work here. As per the above checklist, I do have some insights that I think will be useful in improving the article:
I think the lead can be improved in order to provide an accessible overview and to give relative emphasis.I think the lead should be expanded."On graduation from high school he entered Carnegie Tech planning to major in electrical engineering." (1a issue: is it correct?)- Yes, this is correct. Changed to "graduating" Hawkeye7 (talk) 09:30, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
"Morrison transport the core of the Trinity test gadget to the test site in the back seat of a Dodge sedan.[9]" (1a issue: transported.)- Corrected. Hawkeye7 (talk) 09:30, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
"After the war ended, Morrison and Robert Serber traveled to Hiroshima as part of the Manhattan Project's mission to asses the damage.[9]" (1a issue: spelling)- Corrected. Hawkeye7 (talk) 09:30, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
"Morrison died in his sleep of a respiratory failure at his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on April 22, 2005." (Can you rephrase it? Something similar to "On April 22, 2005, Morrison died of a respiratory failure while asleep at his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts.")- I'd really prefer the first form, as "died in his sleep" is the preferred idiom. Hawkeye7 (talk) 09:30, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
Besides that, I think the article looks excellent. Hawkeye7, please feel free to strike out any recommendation you think will not help in improving the article. All the best, --Seabuckthorn ♥ 23:07, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- All points addressed. Thanks for your review. Hawkeye7 (talk) 09:30, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

External link to interview on nuclear policy?
[edit]Would an interview with Philip Morrison from 1986 be useful here as an external link? Focus of conversation is nuclear weapons policy. http://openvault.wgbh.org/catalog/V_D4A1F75C37684257996166085F52961B (I helped with the site, so it would be conflict of interest for me to just add it.) Mccallucc (talk) 22:03, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
- Added. I like the readers to be able to see and hear the subject where possible. Hawkeye7 (talk) 23:25, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
