PAGE DELETION

This page is about one of Youtube's most popular people this article is within the lines and should not be deleted. There are articles about Youtuber's that are far less popular it is only fit that one of the top Youtuber's has this page.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Kyle1278 (talkcontribs) 13:05, 17 December 2008

It's not about being popular to have a Wikipedia page. Please read WP:BIO. --TwentiethApril1986 (want to talk?) 17:11, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

If you read the Wikipedia criteria for a entertainer having a bio page it states thus:

Actors, comedians, opinion makers, models, and television personalities:
        * Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following.

This is clearly applicable to Philip DeFranco (aka sxephil) as he has about 300,000 subscribers on youtube, so I don't think this needs to be discussed further.Ezzi386 (talk) 05:44, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I agree with that, the tag for deletion should really be removed, as Philip has a large fanbase compared with others on Wikipedia. I'ld also point out he is frequently put on Youtube most watched video's daily. 80.1.123.92 (talk) 22:57, 23 December 2008 (UTC) T Slogrove

Good article

This is listed as a good article on the quality, was it ever formally reviewed? I don't think it qualifies...--kelapstick (talk) 18:57, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

It is also listed as mid importance in WikiProject Comedy. It should be low importance, not sure about the WikiProject Internet Culture though.--kelapstick (talk) 19:03, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey?

Did anyone realize that some links are missing? Why is that so? --Mark Chung (talk) 14:51, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

An editor removed some of the external links because Wikipedia is not a repository of external links. The link to his YouTube profile and his TV page were appropriate, the forum is accessible through his TV page, a link to everything that he has worked on is not necessary (I am assuming that is what you were referring to).--kelapstick (talk) 16:17, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

You hit the nail on the head there, kelapstick. DiverseMentality 20:17, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps I should take up carpentry :D--kelapstick (talk) 21:14, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

You are now all aware that his name is not Phillip Defranco, it's Philip Franchina. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.50.205.96 (talk) 23:46, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Image

Is anyone aware of a freely liscenced image of Phillip DeFranco availible for this page, I have sent an email to him asking for one but I am unsure how he will respond, if any one knows of any availible images it will make the task of finding one much simpler.81.86.244.17 (talk) 17:32, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I've checked on Flickr, but didn't find anything suitable.--kelapstick (talk) 17:34, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Like Totally Awesome

Phil has a new YouTube page called LikeTotallyAwesome where he video games and technology. Should that be mentioned? 71.182.151.155 (talk) 18:08, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

It would me easier to mention if it has outside coverage from YouTube. Kyle1278 19:12, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

something

I have a problem with the paragraph below because it seems like it was typed up by a hater an it makes it out that philip was using his subscribers and he wasnt really in need of money. Im not asking for the part about the video to be removed but lets just rephrase it so it doesn't seem like anything is being embellished.

"DeFranco currently has more than 400 videos posted on YouTube.[10] In an interview he claimed to have a salary of over $250,000 from a number of sources on the internet, not just YouTube.[1] He has been paid by companies to create videos to promote Carl's Jr.'s burger[11][12] and the US TV series' Lie to Me and Fringe.[13] Before the YouTube partner program was available, he has asked for donations from his viewers after claiming to have ran out of money, and selling everything except his Mac, camera and clothes and overdrawing his bank account so he could spend a night in a hotel as he found it too scary sleeping in a car in Brooklyn. The video was eventually deleted.[14][15][16] DeFranco was a founding member of Youtube channel, 'The Station', a channel formed by several Youtube partners, until November 8th 2009 when he announced his departure from The Station due to what he called "The using of people" and financial irregularities."

It seems like someone is implying this hey im philip i have tons of money, i once begged for money from my subscribes oh and did i mention i was on a youtube elite channel with other top youtuber celebrities

I'm not really sure what your saying here, much of that paragraph doesn't look like it was writtien by a hater at all, the section on the begging incident maybe somewhat larger than nessacery, if it really needs inclusion at all, but I can't see how the beggining or end of the article is written with bias against DeFranco81.86.244.17 (talk) 23:31, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

1 million subscribers

He just reached 1 million subscribers.[1] --82.171.70.54 (talk) 18:38, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Repetition within the article?

I'm not too familar with Wikipedia's rules when it comes to repeating content in an article, so I will bring it up here and allow someone else to decide.

2nd Paragraph of YouTube has: "However, on his October 6, 2009, video, DeFranco announced he would continue the show beyond November 3, 2009, until he posted a video on April 22nd, 2010 saying that the show has ended. DeFranco stated he would be continuing with his YouTube channel but that he felt the show had become "stagnant" and that it needed to "evolve." As of April 26 DeFranco said he "needed to cancel the show" this is due to a contract he signed with a company "way back in the day" that allowed them to advertise his show which he would have to agree to. However DeFranco has started a new show called "NSFW" or 'Not Safe For Work'. This new show is basically the same as the PDS but it instead cocentrates on what he liked the most about the Philip DeFranco Show."

However, further down in the article it then has:

"On April 22, 2010, DeFranco released an episode saying that it would be the last episode of the Philip DeFranco Show, later explaining that this was due in part to various legal complications, some being the name of the show and distribution rights to any "PDS" episodes."

"On April 26, 2010, DeFranco announced his new show. NSFW (Not Safe For Work) that includes some aspects of the previous show, namely the "Douchebag of the Day," as well as "WTF News" and a viewer question."

Personally I feel this is the same thing repeated. It appears the article is acting as a kind of timeline, but the 2nd paragraph is more of a summary about YouTube. What do you think? 81.109.175.173 (talk) 11:53, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

I have cleaned up the article a bit hopefully this helps with the repetition, if you see anything else that could be changed please do mention. Thanks! Kyle1278 03:50, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
