Talk:Petri Gerdt
Some random fixups
[edit]Here's some of the things I changed lately. Please bear with me. I'm not going to go revertwarring over this, but at least hear my justifications:
"was a Finnish 19-year-old chemistry student and homeland terrorist who detonated an explosive device" ... Okay, this is a thorny one. Blowing up a shopping mall surely qualifies as homeland terrorism, but the thing is, there's no hints on on whether or not the whole thing was intended as such. There's always the thorny issue that you need to tell apart terrorists who want to spread terror, and just plain ordinary homicidal maniacs... and there's also the possibility that it was an accident. We may never know. And to me, the catch is, fi.wikipedia isn't calling him a terrorist, either.
"it is also common knowledge that he sought online help to build the explosive, and had voiced his homicidal intentions in several chatrooms." Okay, the first part is verified (and I added the name of the forum and his username; fi.wikipedia didn't have a link though and I'm too lazy to google right now). The latter could use some fact-checking, which is why I kept it snipped it off.
I also added some of the other stuff that was in fi.wikipedia (the distiction between the police report, what the parents say, and so on). --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 20:09, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]I think there's too much overlap between the articles about Myyrmanni bombing, especially that now it is known that Gerdt acted alone. --Vuo 00:15, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
I agree that there is not enough significance for two articles, but I definitely don't think this one should remain! The event was very significant of itself, regardless by whom it was caused. Information about Petri Gerdt should be included in the article Myyrmanni bombing, not the otherway around. If you agree with me, please switch the merge tags around. -Oghmoir 23:20, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
