Later life

[edit]

It seems Peter Paxton died in Romford in 1929. This makes a certain amount of sense since his nephew James had been pro there until his death in 1928.See: http://www.antiquegolfscotland.com/antiquegolf/maker.php3?makerid=293 https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=97626778

Peter's first wife Sarah had died in 1907 and he missed the Leeds Cup that year. From http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/ (don't have access to articles but garbled free bits on 15 May 1907 read eg "LEEDS CHALLENGE CUP. The annual 36 bole* comprtrtion for this trophy iMwfrr the the nortiiern section of the Professions! Golfers' Association took place in sliowery weather yesterday, when, the 51 entrsirUi, all rep,- Peter Paxton (Leeds), who ..." and "place ' yeslerdly at Ilkley in showery weather , ' . when . of / the . i 5 ity-ohe ' ' cntTan ' ts : aU except Peter . Peter married again in early 1910 to Margaret Jane Lear. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2DXM-FVQ A daughter Maude Blanche was born in early 1911 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2FGM-8KR and appears in the 1911 census https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7VK-LFF for Llysfaen together with Peter https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7VK-LF6 (age given as 47) and his new wife https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7VK-LFX (aged 24).

Another daughter Dorothy was born in Conway in 1913. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2NDD-F34 Victor appears in Leeds in 1922 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV3H-N6T2 (not certain it is the same family). Maud Blanche died in 1921 in Romford aged 10, from http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/ : "ROMFORD CHILD'S DEATH Disease Not Recognised. Mr. C. E.
