Name

Was Monteverdi officially named 'Peter' but called himself 'Piero' on occasion, or 'Piero' who called himself 'Peter' for business purposes? Being from a family with Italian heritage (albeit in a dominantly German-speaking part of Switzerland) the former seems likely, but I can't find any evidence for certain one way or the other.
