Merger proposal

Since Patricia Seaton is the wife of Peter Lawford and is non-notable apart from that, I propose relevant information in that article should be merged into this one. Please voice your opinion to gain consensus. ~EdGl (talk) 22:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

I support the proposal. I note however that no sources are given for the text in the Patricia Seaton article. The facts should be verified before any merger. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 19:13, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Peter lawford was also in "The Longest Day" the WWII movie —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.74.142.131 (talk) 13:57, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Bisexuality

Peter Lawford was bisexual and had several high-profile affairs with famous men. Surely he should be included in the "Bisexual actors" category? Maureen O'Hara mentioned in her autobiography that Lawford and Richard Boone were arrested in a gay bar. (92.11.128.174 (talk) 21:25, 7 October 2009 (UTC))

Peter Lawford: The Man Who Kept the Secrets, by James Spada, New York, Bantam Books, 1991, ISBN 0-553-07185-8 discusses Lawford's dubious sexuality (listed under 'homosexuality of' under 'sexuality of' in the index) on nine pages of the book. Still maybe not ready for "Bisexual actors" category, though, as is not properly cited and/or widely known...Doc9871 09:44, 8 October 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Doc9871 (talkcontribs)
I can only guess [Kitty Kelly] has found some smut on him.(85.164.223.175 (talk) 22:35, 30 May 2010 (UTC))
Your "guess" is no good - cite the Kitty Kelly work, and it can be included. Otherwise, things like this won't "fly". Cheers :> Doc9871 (talk) 06:17, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

I also came here to read up on Lawford's bisexuality - it was/is well known. I am currently reading a book on the Kennedy family and it mentions it (Joe Kennedy didn't want Pat to marry Lawford for amongst other things the fact that he was bisexual) - but nothing in this article. This article is a bit of a waste. Makes Lawford sound like a regular family man. Very misleading. But then again, so many Wikipedia bios are "cleansed". Also very little on Lawford's alcoholism and drug use in this article - I mean, Jesus, he died of it. But let's not talk about it in a Wikipedia bio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.183.121.167 (talk) 22:46, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Lawford was actually arrested in a gay brothel with Richard Boone. (79.67.118.232 (talk) 20:44, 22 January 2016 (UTC))

Reference Changes

Does anyone watching/contributing to the page mind if I change the reference sectioning and style? There really should be a "Notes" section for footnotes, a "References" section for the works cited, and a "Further reading" section for books on Lawford not directly cited. I would probably use a Harvard footnote style - any objections to cleaning this area up? Doc9871 (talk) 04:24, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

No one seems to be responding, so I will change the citation style of the article to a uniform Harvard notation. Please contact me if you have any questions citing references using this style in this article. Thanks! Doc9871 (talk) 08:12, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
I watch this page but forgot to respond. I was actually the one who added the refs to begin with but no, I don't have an issue with you changing up the style. I use the citation formatting provided by the handy refTools bar in my editing window because it's easy and I like the appearance. Ah well...Pinkadelica 08:23, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Hey, Pinkadelica! Thanks for responding, and I'm glad someone did before I made a big change (it's best to ask first on established articles before making a substantial change, don't you think ;>) I'm certainly not married to the Harvard style, but I didn't see the need to repeat the same source info (complete with ISBN) each time in the section. I'll change it since you have no objection, and let me know what you think. I'll certainly work with you to change any problems you might have with the reworking. Thanks again! :> Doc9871 (talk) 08:42, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

I changed it, but I screwed up the last books' ISBN. I'll find it and fix it... Doc9871 (talk) 04:44, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Heya Doc9871 :). I actually like your way better. Much tidier. Pinkadelica 05:25, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Pink! I appreciate it! With Harvard, once a book is in the reflist, entering footnotes from that book is a snap. I'm quite interested in Lawford and his circle of friends after reading Spada's book, so I'll add refs from him here (and in other articles). Thanks again! :> Doc9871 (talk) 05:37, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Should the book 'Bitch!' by Lawford's mother not be included also? I once read it and found it quite interesting, in style maybe a little amateurish, but in content quite frank and interesting. 121.209.50.46 (talk) 06:11, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
It certainly can be could put it in the "Further reading" section. I'll look up the info (ISBN & stuff) to add it... Doc9871 (talk) 06:39, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Done... Doc9871 (talk) 07:03, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Alcoholism

I have read on at least two different sources that he was a degenerate alcoholic and drug user, which shortened his life, yet there is nothing about that in here. I think there should be. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.232.189 (talk) 23:21, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

This is apparently true (although "degenerate" is a "touchy" word sometimes). My main source on Lawford documents his drug and alcohol problems well, especially in the last decades of his life. I think there should be some referenced mention in the article as well, but the article really needs to be expanded overall... Doc9871 (talk) 00:58, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Peter Lawford as a singer

He was also a singer. He sang several songs in several musicals. Maybe we should tell something about that. IGG8998 —Preceding undated comment added 20:57, 18 October 2010 (UTC).

The reverting going on

I have asked the editor who keeps adding large chunks to this article to take it here because multiple editors have reverted now. I see this has not been done. Reasons for reverting this editor can be seen in the edit summaries but no reason or discussions have been given in return from the editor who is insisting on the edits. I am again requesting this editor to bring the discussions here because the edit being made is not properly sourced and some of it is just plain gossip and unencyclopedic. Thanks, --CrohnieGalTalk 14:51, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

I've reverted once again because Crohnie did ask that the content be discussed before it was reinserted. After having read through the content, I agree that quite a bit of it is bordering on unencylopedic gossip. As for the edit warring, I see an IP has jumped into the mix. IPs reverting to preferred version is still edit warring and IPs can still be blocked, especially if it is determined that users are simply logging out to avoid detection. Frank Sinatra

It should be mentioned that Sinatra, firstly snubbed Lawfrod because he thought he was having an affair with Sinatra's then wife Ava Gardner (Lawford and Ava Gardner had dated in the late 1940s), then patched things up with him because he wanted to be involved in John F. Kennedy's campaign and last Lawford, had broken a promise that he would get JFK to stay at Sinatra's house and again ostracized him and shunned him from "The Rat Pack". It can be referenced from James Spada'sbiography book on Peter Lawford's life 89.215.148.48 (talk) 13:47, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

I agree - add it with the reference. The article needs a lot of stuff that's not here yet... Doc talk 01:29, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Doc, the problem I'm having is that I believe there is socking going on, take a look if you would. Thanks and good night to all, --CrohnieGalTalk 23:31, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Why Not Catagory Singers?

Is this because he never released an album and only sang in his movies? Or did they dub his voice (I hope not)? I'll have to find out about that. Maybe someone can help me. IGG8998 —Preceding undated comment added 19:48, 11 December 2010 (UTC).

Pretty skimpy bio considering who Lawford was

This is a pretty skimpy bio considering who Peter Lawford (he DID marry into the Kennedy family and was married to the Pat Kennedy while JFK was President of the United States). I assume this is because Lawford's unconventional lifestyle is not considered appropriate material for inclusion in a Wikipedia bio. This bio is a whitewash. Useless. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Betathetapi545 (talkcontribs) 23:51, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

It's a "Start" class article - thanks for the observations. This is a volunteer encyclopedia, and if you can improve the article you are most welcome to. Cheers. Doc talk 04:54, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Spelling of daughter´s first name

"and Robin Elizabeth Lawford (born 1961)" - are you sure her name is spelled with single "B" - thought that this was the male form and the female Robbin was spelled with double B! 151.136.147.243 (talk) 07:33, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

A quick Google search will show that her name is spelled with only 1 "b".[1], [2] Doc talk 07:37, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Lawford was openly bisexual so this needs to be mentioned. Richard Boone was more in the closet as he was typecast in cowboy roles due to the popularity of "Have Gun Will Travel". (MyronTimpson (talk) 19:03, 26 April 2017 (UTC))

Datalounge is not a WP:RS - it is a celebrity gossip site. What one individual says about another is not usable. ScrpIronIV 17:45, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
