Comment 1
[edit]1st pass at a bio of Peter Cox. Much of the material came from a private interview I did with him, and the photos are my own as well. I'd digging for more references and will insert them as I find them.
Comment 2
[edit]I'm not sure how to move the existing Peter Cox page to a page just for that particular person, because there needs to be a generic "Peter Cox" page pointing to the various others, as this is a very common name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnbuckman (talk • contribs) 09:17, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
The content of author's work...

Narcissm
[edit]The gallery at Peter_Cox_(author)#Other really should go. None of these pictures contribute anything new to the article that the main picture does not. They are clearly promotional shots. Wikipedia is not a promotional tool. One illustrating portrait is enough.
If anyone would like to suggest any of the other pictures to become the main pictures, you are welcome to do so.--ZayZayEM 07:19, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
source for DYK?
[edit]I see nothing here to substantiate the "best-selling vegetarian book of all time" quoted in DYK. Is there any evidence? I'd add a {{fact}} tag if it was in the text of the article. PamD 07:36, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- I now see it's sourced in the lead sentence... in 1994. There's been a lot of interest in vegetarianism since then, so this looks a bit iffy. PamD 09:24, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
General approach
[edit]I feel this article is too one-sided. Whiilst Cox's book may well ahve been a best seller in its time, it does not have a sales ranking currently on Amazon and there are plenty of other books on the subject which are still being sold. Anyway, what does "The best selling book on vegetarianism" actually mean? There are plenty of vegetarians but do they buy cookery books or books about animal cruelty or books on how to be a vegetarian? Dunno, but the first 2 I think. The advert section needs to come out. The point about his being President of the vegetarians for 6 weeks and then having to leave could do with a longer discussion. Taken with his argument with his Headteacher (Johnny could not then go to university) this may suggest difficulty in working with people, or, expecting too much of them. I know nothing of him or the veg. soc. but this article needed more balance. He may be a wonderful person, but at present it looks like hagiography.
