COI tag explanation
[edit]For purposes of transparency: While it appears the small amount of quasi-promotional material was removed from the article some time ago, it's still typically the norm to tag the article when the creator of said article, or a major contributor, have a close association with the subject. This isn't a "badge of shame" or anything of the sort, as COI editors (with the exception of the subject themselves) may still technically edit any article they choose, so long as they disclose that they have a conflict of interest. It serves the purpose of allowing Wikipedia to be above-board, and as transparent as possible, as well as allowing editors to know that they should be vigilant in making the article as neutral as possible.
All that being said, it appears to me that, aside from some claims in the article needing to be sourced per WP:BLP, this article conforms otherwise to policy, and is not overly promotional or written from any particular point of view. Good work. :) Quinto Simmaco (talk) 05:57, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
COI
[edit]Agree with Quinto; I know Abell professionally, at a distance, and the article is surprisingly down beat. I will remove the COI tag in 2020 if there are no comments. I also think he may have been given a knighthood - I believe for his work in setting up the LSE - Can anyone confirm that?

I can confirm he has not been given a knighthood. --Engelo (talk) 23:50, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
