WP:V of IHR
[edit]One of the sources used for this article is:
- Marcellus, J. "Percy L. Greaves, Jr., 1906–1984". Institute for Historical Review.
An editor removed this for failing WP:V, but I think his actual concern was WP:RS. I restored the source on these grounds: Though IHR is not a reliable source for almost any topic, an obituary of one of their contributors can, I think, be taken as a reliable source for the basic biographical facts of his life. --darolew (talk) 14:01, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- No, its fundamental purpose is deception, and therefore it's not a site that's reliable for anything, even an obituary of one of their contributors. Jayjg (talk) 02:01, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- IHR was founded for the purposes of deception about historical topics, primarily the Holocaust. However, thinking about it, you might be right; the IHR obituary might, for instance, seek to make Greaves look like a more respected figure than he was, in order to render his Pearl Harbor writings more credible. I have re-added the link as an external link. For that purpose, IHR's obituary qualifies. There is a recommendation to avoid "site[s] that misleads the reader by use of factually inaccurate material or unverifiable research", except for the case of "articles about the viewpoints that the site is presenting", which include this article. --darolew (talk) 13:28, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- This is not an article about a viewpoint, though. Jayjg (talk) 01:25, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
