Conflict of interest

Hi there,

I recently noticed this page contains mainly outdated information and no references. We would love to improve the article, but I understand that just going in and changing things is not the way to go about this. I've therefore created a proposal for a new version, trying to keep as much of the original article in as possible and keep a NPOV.

The draft is here: User:People's Postcode Lottery/PPLdraft.

Additionally I noticed there is a page about the UK Postcode Lottery as well. This lottery was rebranded and merged with the People's Postcode Lottery a long time ago.

I don't know how this normally works, should that article redirect/be deleted/be updated/stay as is?

Hi, WP has a policy where companies, corporations and collectives are not permitted to edit as entities Wikipedia:Username policy, and editors with a conflict of interest (such as working for a company) should also not edit articles related to their business Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. However, where an editor with a COI has a substantive reason for suggesting changes to an article related to them (such as matters of fact, accuracy etc) they can participate in making suggestions through the article talk page (such as here) as per Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance. This allows it to be dicusssed and the edits made with at least some independence.

Editors with a COI are permitted to remove vandalism and make non-controversial edits (spelling, referecences) to their conflicted pages.

Proposing merger

It is proposed that UK Postcode Lottery be merged into this article. Both seem to refer to the same lottery program, and the company that organises it is the same and has been operating in several countries. The reason I recommend merging to this article is because People's Postcode Lottery could refer to several different programs and each could have their own sections. If People's Postcode Lottery is the only one using the name, and is only in the UK then either would have been fine, but the website prefers 'People's Postcode Lottery. Some of the information on this page is no longer accurate and requires updating.

Included here are the sections and correct facts/figures with useful references.

History 1. A new Postcode Lottery has been established. Norsk Postkodelotteri in Norway launched in 2018. Ref: https://www.novamedia.nl/what-we-do/norsk-postkodelotteri

2. This means six lotteries would need to be updated to seven.

2. This line is slightly confusing: If more than one resident has tickets in a winning postcode, all playing neighbours collect prizes.

It's actually more accurate to say: Each player playing in a winning postcode will win a prize.

Missing information

There is no section referring to the specific prizes offered, or the odds of winning (even though these will be defined in their lottery license), or how these compare with other lotteries. FreeFlow99 (talk) 08:02, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
