Is Penywaun a Housing estate or a Village?

Penywaun (Pen-y-Waun) is a Housing Estate. It is not a village.124.185.15.244 (talk) 07:45, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's neither. As settlements go a housing estate is not a terminology used to discuss an area. It may have been built as a housing estate, but it then becomes something else, be it a town, village, etc. It is defined in publications as a suburb, so I'll change it to that. Thanks for raising the topic though. FruitMonkey (talk) 12:35, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

inherent unemployment

[edit]

I've looked back through the history and this article does seem to have been sanitized over recent years. If anyone would like to re-introduce the drug issue, pit closure and long-term unemployment aspects there's a basis in http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/despair-and-death-on-an-estate-without-hope-peter-dunn-looks-at-the-background-to-the-brutal-murder-1496695.html and http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/grandmother-praised-support-work-2223956 JohnHarris (talk) 14:23, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
