Conta quote:

(end of quotes)

and there are plenty of others

All of the Chonta stuff can be discussed in his own article (he deserves a separate one since he's certainly notable enough), because it really doesn't have much to do with the band itself (it was published as his own impressions and loosy-goosy opinions in his own interviews two decades later), and certainly not during the the 1978-1981 period, which should be the primary source of info for Pekinska patka article. Maybe a general sentence or two talking about that would suffice in this article.Zvonko 01:17, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

btw what "official atheist society"? its not enver hoxha's albania what we are talking about. the religion was indeed supressed but not to that extent.

Certainly. Religion was most definitely suppressed across entire SFRY.
OK, Im' listening: how would you phrase that part, since that statement requires a little background context.Zvonko 01:17, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the point of the quotes was just Conta's "ego-trip". He "invented" melodic punk, ska, darkwave and.. everything else. i thought its sounds funny, as a trivia, so I added it, but was soon removed. Anyway, its not of major importance, and there can be a separate article on him. Regarding religios freedom my point was the following: yes religion was suppresed, but the state was not officialy atheist. De jure is one thing, De facto is another. The only state, both de jure and de facto atheist was Enver Hoxha's Albania. We must admit SFRY was far from that. Otherwise Conta wouldnt exist, he would have ended in some gulag. If you read the laws of former SFRY, religious freedom was (formally) guaranteed. Organized religion indeed existed. Thats why i think the line: "officially (De Jure) atheist society" is too harsh. Maybe we can modify it to "society where the religion was supressed" or something. BTW maybe the statement "First Orthodox Punk band" refers to the fact that they were among the first ones in Serbia (since Slovenians and Croatians are mostly Roman Catholic).

p.s. or we can make the sentence to end with: "didn't sit well with communist officials.". Im sure there are articles explaining the relation between the communist parties and the church.

moved

[edit]

why its moved from Pekinška patka to Pekinška Patka? according to the ex-Yugoslav writting system capitalization is not mandatory in titles. There was a similar situation with Bijelo dugme, which is now de-capitalized as you can see (some suggested that it should be Dugme) Dzole 03:37, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Wave

[edit]

New Wave music? primarily they were straightforward loud and pogo-jumping punk rock band (although new wave is indeed closely related to punk and Patka even mentions the Yugoslav New Wave in the song Bumba rumba ("ova grupa se zove Pekinska Patka... Jugoslovenski Novi Talas etc.." check it out). Still primarily it will be remembered as punk band rather than New Wave (Film, Idoli, Sarlo Akrobata, Parlament) Dzole 04:18, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
