Initial comments

[edit]

I'm seeding this article with content by Stephanie Parker (used with permission, and under the terms of a CC0 Copyright Waiver, and lightly revised and restructured here) Initial source is this Google Doc. Arided (talk) 11:26, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:Wingtipvortex added a "copypaste" flag to this article. The article is indeed (mostly) copied from another source, but with permission, as I noted above. See http://peeragogy.org/resources/license/ for full details. (I hope we can address the other concerns raised on the page soon as well!) Arided (talk) 23:59, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm also removing the "disputed" flag, since there was no indication of what facts are being "disputed" here. To make the critiques more clear please use "needs citation" templates in the article itself. Arided (talk) 23:59, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I added "See Also" links on the Peer-led Team Learning and Peer mentoring pages. I don't know if this is sufficient to address the "Orphan" flag we were given (except technically). More importantly, future editors should review those two pages, and the pages they link to, to see where other cross references (and content) should go. Arided (talk) 00:13, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I added a bunch of outgoing links to other relevant articles, which should help in part to address the "notability" concern raised by User:Wingtipvortex. In other words, peer learning relates to a bunch of topics that are already considered "notable enough" to appear on Wikipedia. Arided (talk) 01:23, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Bruner for now

[edit]

I removed "Jerome Bruner is another prominent cognitive psychologist whose book The Process of Education was influenced by Vygotsky. This book placed an emphasis on learners as active problem-solvers, and had a significant impact on reforming American education policy." -- at least until someone can say more explicitly how this relates to peer learning. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arided (talkcontribs) 01:42, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some other content to filter in

[edit]

One concrete suggestion would be to add a section dealing with connections to development work, starting with this book: The Power of Peer Learning: Networks and Development Cooperation, and connections to peer learning in higher education, starting with the appropriately titled Peer Learning in Higher Education: Learning from and with Each Other.

Some other good material we could work in there is mentioned in http://donaldclarkplanb.blogspot.co.uk/2011/10/7-compelling-arguments-for-peer.html -- specifically, "The Nurture Assumption" and work by Eric Mazur. (More information on Mazur's website and on peerinstruction.net). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arided (talkcontribs) 18:42, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Check out WP:RS. Most blogs are not considered reliable sources. Best to double check. Cheers! --WingtipvorteX PTT 20:04, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I mainly meant to use the blog as a bridge... there's lots of papers by Eric Mazur and colleagues that could be cited. Arided (talk) 20:26, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've been in contact with Harold Jarche, who writes about how Connectivist/Peer-Learning is an essential skill in the move towards 'the networked worker' - and others within the Connectivist community. I'll start working on some ideas in my sandbox to help fill out the section on Connectivism section of Peer-Learning. Sooziebea (talk) 06:54, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Peeragogy Project:

[edit]

Related Peeragogy grant proposal

Dear Wikipedians Educators: We're advancing an Individual Engagement Grant here concerning Peer learning. If this is something you and your students might like to be involved with, please add an endorsement. Comments or questions would be most welcome on the proposal's talk page. In particular, our project involves translation work which we hope might be interesting to students. --Fabrizio Terzi (talk) 21:19, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

      • Commercial entries ***

Some blatent attempts to drive links to commercial vendors. I would suggest removing that whole section; there are hundreds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.44.186.138 (talk) 10:38, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
