Length
[edit]The article contradicts itself about the river's length. Is it 62 miles long or 175 miles long? 175 seems more likely, but the 62 figure has a citation. Someone might need to figure this out. Shannontalk contribs 05:10, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, yea, and the citation for 62 miles is just the GNIS entry, which does not appear to say anything about length. I found an Idaho Dept of Environmental Quality subbasin report saying that from the river's headwaters the drainage flows "for over 175 miles". I think this figure includes the North Fork as well as the main stem, but I'll use it anyway since it clearly says "headwaters". I suppose one could work out the length of the main stem up to the forks confluence, if desired. Pfly (talk) 09:16, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, 175 miles seems a lot more likely, as the river originates in the mountains and has to cross a good portion of the Snake River Plains before meeting with the Snake River... Then again, on maps, it appears that the distance from the Payette Lakes to the Snake River is no more than 80 miles. Oh well. 175 is sufficient. Shannontalk contribs 00:00, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Nah, after making the map for the river, I found that the river is only about 62 miles long, the extra length is from the North or South forks. Shannontalk contribs 03:14, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
