While the Czechoslovak team did win the silver medal at the 1976 WOG, per the Slovak Olympic Comitee, Pavol Svitana did not receive a medal: He was originally nominated as the third reserve goalie who did not even travel to Innsbruck. After a flu outbreak and an injury of the second goalie (Jiří Crha), IIHF agreed to add Pavol Svitana to the roster. He arrived to Innsbruck and was on the bench for the last two matches. However, the number of prepared medals was equal to the size of the original roster, so he did not receive one.
