Liable in rape trial

[edit]

This topic is briefly covered, including in the summary. However, the information is inaccurate. I'll reintroduce suggested edit later today, which were cited to verifiable sources on the trial and orders from the judge and jury. Qreligious (talk) 18:27, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

what is inaccurate? Cambial foliar❧ 19:00, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
>In November 2022, he was found liable in a civil trial which alleged he raped publicist Haleigh Breest, and was required to pay $10 million in damages.
This is what I find inaccurate and incomplete. Haggis was found liable for the rape of Haleigh Breest in the civil trial. It is no longer just "alleged"—the man raped this woman. The damages of $10 million are correct. But it should be stated that the judge ordered another $2.8 million in the victim's legal fees on top of the $10 million. That is more complete and accurate. Qreligious (talk) 21:46, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, we simply report the fact that he was found liable for the allegation, as stated in the sources. The standard of proof to say in unqualified wikivoice that a living person committed a criminal offence is that multiple secondary reliable sources state that tthey committed the offence. That's not what the large majority of RS say, because he has not been found guilty of an offence in a criminal trial. Cambial foliar❧ 22:50, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cambial Yellowing, there are multiple secondary reliable sources that show Haggis was found liable in this civil suit for sexually assaulting Haleigh Breest. I've cited some in my edits, which you have undone twice now. I strive to have reliable sources and citations in any new information I am adding. Is there any documentation you can specifically point me to so I can make sure I am providing all reliable sources, citations and information required? Thank you. Qreligious (talk) 21:45, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I had reviewed the recent changes and they seemed okay. (I didn't like it, but I couldn't fault it.) I'm not sure what Cambial's issue is with the inclusion of this information. Maybe they can add here some reasonable argument for which parts or which wording they object to.   ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 21:52, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. As above, I am striving to write factual information that cites reliable sources and in an objective view. The media is already quite biased and I do not feel any of that should be in Wikipedia articles, on anyone. I appreciate any critiques and will continue to improve. Qreligious (talk) 01:59, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate @Grorp's suggestion and will wait a couple more days for any further note back from @Cambial Yellowing before implementing the suggested additions. Qreligious (talk) 07:50, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A post-trial ruling on costs is not significant enough for the lead of a biography. It's not very significant at all, but there's no objection to a sentence in the article body. To state in Wikivoice that a person committed a criminal offence, you need a source that says the person committed the offence. We are obliged to follow WP:BLP closely in this and every instance.
