Settlement
[edit]Mr Coffey alleged he was defamed by the Kilkenny People newspaper on the 15th of January 2016. He was nicknamed Coffey the Robber after he allegedly tried to take parts of Kilkenny and move it to Waterford. The comparison was based on William Crotty who was an 18th century criminal known as Crotty the Robber. Mr Coffey settled out of court on the 31st of July 2019, the details are unknown at present.
