I'm still not getting it. Could you please explain which of the criteria at WP:MUSIC Mr. DeCoste passes? I'd like to be wrong here so I won't have to take it to WP:AFD. Cheers. --lifebaka (Talk - Contribs) 19:28, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Why would he not pass qualification number 1? He has been written about in quite a few published works, however you wish to define that. Northeast Performer, The Noise-Boston, InsiteBoston have all had features on him, though they are certainly regional mags. However, the instrumental guitar community now exists mainly in 'zines and on internet sites, and DeCoste is pretty well represented there. As the guidelines say, "What constitutes a "published work" is deliberately broad", and "published works in all forms." His mentions are certainly "non-trivial", and multiple. I'll see if I can't add a few more citations if need be, in the next few days. 02132user (talk) 02:41, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
I just added new references that now meet: WP:Music's "Criteria for musicians and ensembles". These include non-trivial press notes from reliable sources (ie Worcester Telegram & Gazette & the Northeast Performer Magazine - the nation's largest trade publication w/ circulation of 30,000 - 50,000 prints) (criteria 1). Other published works (InSite Magazine & The Noise: Boston) have covered him multiple times and not for album reviews/ performance dates. Such non-trivial press would make him prominently notable for his genre/ style and in his community (criteria 2, 5 & 6). He has performed in/ with bands who are now "notable" musicians as listed in his article (criteria 6). His music is in rotation in on PBS 106.7FM & has been aired on WAAF (FM) (criteria 11). Not sure if charting among Grammy winners is notable as seen on Guitar9.com (criteria 5) - several prominent instrumental guitarists on Wiki cite the Guitar9 charts here (see No Boundaries (Michael Angelo Batio album) & Steve Stevens profiles). He is also listed at AllMusic (& Walmart!) (meets "Others" criteria). 65.47.144.230 (talk) 15:57, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
