Remember to cite your sources[edit]

When you want to reference an external article be sure to cite your sources, and preferably choose large, established websites to cite. I just removed a lot of links due to their leading to temporary pages which no longer contained the original content to be cited.

Here is Wikipedia's guide to citing sources: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Cite_sources

Name to use[edit]

I'm somewhat confused on the issue of how to refer to her in the article. I assumed it was "Nair," as that previously seemed to be her last name, but the article was moved, so is "Omanakuttan" correct then?  Mbinebri  talk ← 22:48, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Her commonly used name (by her and others) is Parvathy Omanakuttan, while she was christened Parvathy Omanakuttan Nair. The page was incorrectly moved to add the Nair bit, but was moved back. So, the birth name section now correctly refers to the full name, while the article title and the infobox header use the name she goes by (which was the only name in the article for a very long time). -SpacemanSpiff 22:53, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. The article seems to refer to her every way but Omanakuttan at the moment, when that's what it should be using.  Mbinebri  talk ← 03:20, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Omankuttan is actually a patronym, as is the case for many people from south India, so she shouldn't generally be referred to by that. Most (Indian) reliable sources will refer to her as Parvathy. -SpacemanSpiff 03:53, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Even if Omankuttan is a patronym, that doesn't necessarily mean it's not also her surname, which is what Wikipedia policy says we should use. Using "Pavarthy" seems a little informal for an encyclopedic article, but if that's how she is commonly referred to in the media, then I wouldn't object to its use instead.  Mbinebri  talk ← 04:45, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
