Assessment

[edit]

I have assessed this as a Stub, as it only provides the basic information on the topic, and of low importance, as it is a highly specific topic within Canada. Cheers, CP 05:43, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Parole Board of Canada. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

This article does not meet WP standards for Neutrality

[edit]

I've added "POV" and "undue" tags to the article. As it is written it does not present a neutral point of view of the Parole Board of Canada. I note the following:

  • Limited information on the purposes of parole in the Canadian criminal justice system
  • Little info on the interaction of the PBC with other agencies of the justice system.
  • A lack of statistical information about the results of parole releases.
  • A lengthy section on "controversies" and little information on the programs, operations or outcomes of the PBC.
  • Undue weight is placed on parole failures with no context given as to the overall results of parole releases. There is a need to present factual information on the following:
  • Number and types of releases
  • Overall success rates various types of parole release
  • Reasons for revocation of parole (i.e., breach of conditions, vs. commission of new crime).
  • Inadequate, inoperable, and biased references
  • Few of the references provide any statistical information or context for parole releases
  • Ten out of fifteen references are to dead or inoperable links
  • References are slanted towards the POV that parole doesn't work and provide little evidence, other than anecdotal information.

I am willing to work on overhauling the article and would welcome any assistance. Sunray (talk) 08:33, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This article is terrible, as you've pointed out. Definitely needs a cleanup, and tags certainly are warranted. I'll try helping out when I have a chance. FuriouslySerene (talk) 15:39, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've reinserted some of the material that was deleted. However, I have added new sources to improve reliability.(Hyperionsteel (talk) 03:03, 19 February 2016 (UTC))[reply]
Please see WP:UNDUE. The issue isn't only sourcing, it's also the undue weight placed on those incidents. FuriouslySerene (talk) 14:44, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
