Mannheim School influence?

I don't agree. The Mannheim School's heydey was 30 years prior to these works and Haydn wrote 81+ symphonies before these Paris works. A citation has been added for this statement, but I don't understand the claim of influence at all... especially a claim that goes in the lead.DavidRF (talk) 02:18, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • David, I bet you that's someone who misunderstood. The opening of 87 is certainly a clear reference to the Mannheim Roller - whoever added the edit probably extrapolated incorrectly to think that the reference was to the entire set. I'll revert.
