What? No plot? No spoilers? I'll put one here. 4.240.36.14 03:37, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IRONY

[edit]

At one point in the film, Gil says, "Maybe we should have a dozen kids!" Ironically, Steve Martin was in Cheaper by the Dozen in which his character actually did have a dozen kids.

That is not ironic, it's not even written in the correct tense.--Ganley894 20:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New TV Show

[edit]

I just read on a blog that NBC has green-lit a new version of a Parenthood tv show for I am assuming next fall. Apparently it will be a one hour 'dramedy.' Obviously, a blog is not a credible source so I was wondering if anyone knows of a credible source citation so, if true, it can be added to the article? 24.39.98.137 (talk) 00:56, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I heard about that on NPR yesterday. Soltera (talk) 20:38, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ParenthoodParenthood (film) – 19:13, 22 December 2011 (UTC) My position is that most searching for "Parenthood" these days are either looking for the current 2010 TV series, or they are actually searching for topics on parenting. Page view statistics support this claim with twice as many visiting the two I mentioned as opposed to the 1989 film (I feel the difference would be even more if parenthood's primary topic wasn't the 1989 film). I am proposing that we disambiguate the term. GoneIn60 (talk) 21:48, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt your proposal is really moving this page to Parenthood (disambiguation). You probably mean moving this page to Parenthood (film) and then Parenthood (disambiguation) to Parenthood? Jafeluv (talk) 22:47, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct. The intention is to remove the primary topic. I have fixed the link which will hopefully update here and on WP:RM. Following this move, the plan would be to next move Parenthood (disambiguation) to Parenthood as you stated. GoneIn60 (talk) 05:03, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Credits edits

[edit]

Joaquin Phoenix was credited as Leaf Phoenix in this film and others. But he is generally listed as Joaquin now, and it's what he goes by. I think it would be better to list his credit as Joaquin and include "(credited as Leaf Phoenix)" or "(as Leaf Phoenix)". I made this change but it was reverted without comment by TheOldJacobite.

Also, I think it's confusing to mention the actor's last name in parentheses after the character's name when they have not yet been mentioned in the text. Either remove the actor's name, or mention the actor in the list of principals at the beginning of the article. I made this change as well, but it was also reverted.

The actor should be credited just as he was in the film, with a piped link to the more common name. This is how it is always done. There is also no reason to give the actor's full name in the plot section, as they are all listed in the cast section, which is why the last name is given in parentheses. ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 00:33, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
