The {{Infobox company}} template includes a field for "Parent", which (by default) links to [points to] this article. Therefore, many readers may be directed to this article, if they "click" to find out [more about] the meaning of the term "Parent", as used in the context of the {{Infobox company}} template.

Hence, it might be advisable to change the word "firm" (which, iirc, technically applies only to a company that is a partnership -- not a corporation; but now that I check, e.g, at wikt:firm#Etymology_1, it seems that such a restriction appears to be applicable only for "UK, business" ... hmm.). The use of the word "firm" could be changed (e.g.) to say "company" instead. I recommend that. Just a suggestion...

Also, it might be advisable to include a mention of the fact that

When the percentage of ownership by the Parent company is 100%, the term "wholly owned subsidiary" is sometimes used.

For example, in the article about Gulfstream Aerospace -- which does use the {{Infobox company}} template -- (and from which I clicked on [the data "field" name] "Parent" in order to discover this article, "Parent company") -- the very first sentence of the lede uses the term "wholly owned subsidiary".

Just another suggestion. --Mike Schwartz (talk) 01:37, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Another example: The article about McAfee ("redirected from Intel Security") says, in the second sentence,

The company has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel since February 2011,[5][6] [...]
