Dictionary database
[edit]I created the dictionary database on a Commodore Vic 20 computer . The dictionary have about 40000 danish words and have an aproximate word length of 7 characters. It is equipped with a disc station 1541 that have acces to 160 kb of data. The keyboard on a VIC 20 uses software to decode the keyboard wires . In order to use the database ,the keyboard programme must be implemented with additional ml code that works with a text editor. I wrote that programme as well as the dictionary database . When it is used with a text editor programme the programme show a "pop up" list of 10 words and you have to press on a numerical digit ( 0 to 9 ) to enter the word you are to type. Typically 3 or 4 strokes on the keyboard is needed to write 7 character words. Further , the Commodore DOS on a 1541 allow user filetypes and i picted . TXT extension. And to use such file types i rewrote the "dictionary" command in order to acces files with TXT filetype. That filebrowser is known as Pathfinder - !
I invented those algorithms. Jens-Jørgen J. Petersen (talk) 13:18, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
