Info-box image change request of Panic! at the Disco article

[edit]

  • What I think should be changed (format using {{textdiff}}): I think the image in the info-box of the Panic! at the Disco Wikipedia article should be changed.

  • Why it should be changed: The image should be changed because one of the touring band members in the current image, Kenneth Harris, was dismissed from the band in 2018 due to multiple allegations of sexual misconduct involving underage fans and I do not think he represents the band very well. - see first web citation

The image should, in my opinion, just be of Brendon Urie because he was the only remaining original member and sole member of the actual band for the longest period of time and the band became what it did because of him. The band operated as his solo project from 2015 - 2023. - see second web citation I have found an image by the same photographer that also took the current image used on the site - Jennifer Linnea Photography. Commercial use of it is also allowed. - see third web citation

Not done: I strongly disagree that we should cut out the rest of the band members from the main photo on the page. Photos solely of Urie can go in his article, but this article is about the full band. Even if, for a period in the band's history, it was a solo project, the other members are still very much worth picturing. Bsoyka (tcg) 13:18, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, i agree! Although, maybe there is a picture out there that is free to use for the article without Kenneth. So, one of Brendon, Nicole Row, Dan Pawlovich and Mike Naran who replaced Harris. However, I could not find an image of those four together labeled under "commercial use allowed" so that is why I suggested it be just Urie. Spideyfan2000 (talk) 13:28, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reunion appearance announcement & active years

[edit]

Urie recently stated that the band would reunite next year for a festival appearance. Everyone is taking this as being a one off appearance, but that has not been explicitly stated. Similarly, there has recently been instructions not to put “2024–present” in the article, but I have to push back on that for two reasons: 1) Urie announced it this year, which effectively makes the band active as of 2024. If it indeed ends up being a one-off performance, we can always put “2024-2025”. It will not be disruptive to the page. 2) There was never an agreement on the talk page that the instructions should be added. ChristianJosephAllbee (talk) 23:48, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with having the status as "2024–present". An announcement is not the same as a band performing, as we don't know if they will cancel their performance or not. As WP:CRYSTAL states, Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, and we don't know if it is definite for sure. Regarding the status, I would wager that we just use "2025" when the performance comes around, but until then, we should leave the activity as is - though we can leave the sub-section in the History section as "2025". Again, just to be clear: WP:CRYSTAL. HorrorLover555 (talk) 02:38, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with HorrorLover55. I also think we should leave the member section empty until a reunion lineup is confirmed by the band, since I've seen people already move Urie's name up. - K-popguardian (talk) 05:20, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@K-popguardian: Regarding the member section, I agree. "Current members" in that section should be removed as well, at least until the new lineup has been confirmed. The hidden note that's there is fine, just an expansion to not include current members just yet. HorrorLover555 (talk) 12:24, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
