Grammar

Grammatical edit to passage re: servers in different countries.

Original text: PangYa currently has servers in Korea, Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, Taiwan, China and U.S.A. which is expanding to Thailand and more English speaking countries. A fair number of players out of the designated region play on either the Korean or Japanese servers.

New text: PangYa currently has servers in Korea, Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, Taiwan, China and U.S.A., with plans to expand to Thailand and more English speaking countries. A fair number of players outside of the current server regions play on either the Korean or Japanese servers.

  • Grammar somewhat fixed in the Criticisms. The whole Criticisms section needs some updating, so it was likely all for naught~

Work needed!

A lot of work is needed to bring this article up to par. At the moment, we need :

To be added :

  1. Caddies
  2. Courses
    • Wiz Wiz
    • West Wiz
    • Silvia Cannon

To be expanded :

  1. Courses
    • Shining Sands
  2. All characters
    • Scout
    • Hana
    • Uncle Bob
    • Cecilia
  3. Almost everything, actually.

Please help, especially those who've played from other servers. - Tehboyofdoom 11:15, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

I have added character stats, special shots(removing such details from gameplay section) and basic type of clubs into the article. There should be a lot of grammer or vocal mistakes as I am not from a english speaking country. I am from MapleSea(Singapore and Malaysia) by the way --SeaGates 01:00, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for all the help! I'll take a look at it and give it a run through later this week. Rituro 14:08, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

My Goals

Over the Christmas break, I plan on fleshing out the Caddie and Character information based on what I can find in-game and on the website. I'll also give the current information another look for grammar. (What can I say? I'm a grammar Nazi. ;) ) Rituro 18:53, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Pictures?

I added a few small pictures to the article. - Tehboyofdoom 15:27, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

The Rough

Has Oneletter or another admin confirmed that the rough on White Wiz, Wind Hill etc. is more punishing than that of other courses? If they haven't, is there visible proof (i.e., power rating shown on the spin icon) that certain rough is more punishing than others? I only ask to make sure that we're operating on fact and not personal opinion. Rituro 22:07, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Wind Hill is more punishing: the power on the spin icon displays 85% in the rough and from experience that appears to be airly accurate. North/White Wiz displays 90%, but the rough there is probably 95... definitely not 90 at any rate. Crovax 01:41, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Power reduction also depends on weather. If I remembered correctly. There is an additional reduction of 3% on all terrain if White Wiz is snowing. --SeaGates 00:58, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

The Edit in question. I don't see how links to the official websites for the game are considered spam, but I will not simply go and revert that change until the rest of the Wikipedians watching this Article provide an opinion on the matter. Personally, I feel that they should be there, since someone reading the article could be lost if they feel like trying the game without links to the game website. Anyone Agree/Disagree with me? --Midnyt 01:13, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Links to the official version should be in the article. They're probably the most relevant links after all. And the official website is encyclopedic information. Plus, I checked a few other MMOG pages (World of Warcraft, Lineage, RuneScape, and Gunbound) and all have official sites listed and linked. Crovax 01:48, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. Official websites should stay. Rituro 15:59, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Reversion Request

I don't know who it was that decided the entries for Max and the caddies needed all that useless filler, but I hate it. It's unprofessional and contributes nothing to the article. While I'm sure we could revert all the changes manually, maybe we should consider getting an admin to roll the article back to before all the non-account changes? Rituro 04:39, 10 March 2006 (UTC) Rituro 23:31, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Article retitling?

Just a minor thing, but should we move this page from "Pangya" to "PangYa"? Every other part of the article is following the "PangYa" naming convention; it makes sense that the article title should follow suit. Rituro 23:33, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Nintendo Wii?

When was this announced? Can somebody provide a citation/source for this? Rituro 16:12, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Certainly. I've posted a link to the Nintendo Wii trailer for Pangya on the article. [1]

Looks great. Deiaemeth 00:29, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I changed the Wii section to past tense with U.S. release information. The game has already been released, so why not make it sound like it has? --Smashtennis 16:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Albatross18 World Cup

The teams and schedules have been announced for the huge A18 tournament. Should we consider summarizing the results and the whole tourney in general as another section of the PangYa article? Rituro 20:35, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Prices for characters/caddies

Just a suggestion, but in my opinion it would be useful to have the prices for the characters/caddies, and if they cost pang or cookies, along with the description.

Prices for character is a near impossible task as different servers has different pricing for the same item. --SeaGates 00:55, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

SE Asian names?

Are these for real? I noticed several were added by a known vandal. Someone should check, and remove them if they can't be verified. Dicklyon 04:27, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Article Branching

I just noticed a warning on the Edit page regarding the size of this article. Now might be the time to consider making seperate articles for the larger items. The logical candidates to begin with would be Courses and Characters, possibly even Caddies. (Or, should we think of one, a heading that doesn't begin with "C". ;-) ) What does everyone think? Rituro 18:52, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Pangya Season 3

I added some info about Korea's Pangya Season 3. Detail are sketchy at most and I've added the info in at the time I am badly deprieve of sleep. I hope someone will be kind enough to clean up my sloppy work. Thanks --SeaGates 21:19, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Added character hobby information from KR Pangya website. Kaz description has been translated by me, so fix it if you feel the need to.--KitKat 21:44, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

August 9-10 UPDATE

Ok, so what the heck did I do with the article. Well I did the following:

  • Added a nice CVG infobox
  • Copy editted quite a bit. Still needs more work though.
  • Added a To-Do list here on talk page with a lot of stuff to be done on it.
  • I am splitting the article tonight. You can see what I mean if you go to my userpage and look the bottom. The top part is what will be in the article and the bottom part is the new article. I will be adding pictures to those articles as well! (Character pictures and Caddy pictures!)
  • I added course pictures. I had to double space the courses in order or the pictures not to look awkward but I may change it back.

Cheers,

--Ddahlberg 16:19, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Personally, I am against the lack of mention to a character's name on a server that is not the Albatross 18 servers. Could you please remember that this is an article on the game "Pangya" as a whole, not just Albatross 18. Even if it just goes in as a foot note, it still belongs there. --Midnyt 20:26, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you're refering to. Ah, I think you are refering to the article I'm working on. The problem with that is indicating the various names in the different versions of Pangya would take up quite a lengthy amount of space, which is what makes it quite large. I totally agree with you about this is an article about Pangya and not Albatross18. I chose to "display" the names in English because the headers were orginially chosen as the Albatross18 names due to the fact that it is the dominant English version and this is the English version of Wikipedia. --Ddahlberg 02:49, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Regarding splitting, I agree completely that characters and caddies deserve a seperate article, but do special shots really need their own entry? If anything, I recommend demoting them back to a mention in the Gameplay section. Rituro 20:59, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
The only reason why I chose Special Shots is that it is a fairly detailed description of each shot, but it is also quite lengthly. In another perspective, I view this as like "Weapons of XXXX" game, where many of those articles have a seperate article due to the immense descriptions. I chose not to split out Maps because I feel that it is the most integral part of the game and should be featured on the main page of the article. --Ddahlberg 02:49, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Pangya or PangYa

I think Rituro raised this before... but we need to decide now.

Pangya, or PangYa? - TBod 14:34, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

PangYa. Rituro 14:12, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

A18 difficulty ratings

As of Season 2, Albatross18 now uses stars instead of As to denote course difficulty. I think the page should now reflect this, but how? Use asterisks (*)? --BPM 22:21, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

For the time being, yes, that makes the most sense. In the future, we could consider removing the "A"/"*" system entirely and replacing it with a quick blurb at the beginning of each description. (E.g., "Blue Lagoon is a one-star course...") Rituro 14:20, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
If you don't really want the asterisks, but still feel like keeping the Star rankings in the article, you could replace the asterisks with a "★". It looks more like a star than an asterisk if you put it in the subheading area, which I have placed in this talkpage subtopic as an example. They will appear like they do below if you copy them into the article. Just a side thought I had... --Midnyt 21:34, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Brilliant! Rituro 14:25, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Ah, that's great! I couldn't figure out how to do a star... What's the Unicode for it (or an Alt+ command, if there is one)? --BPM 05:17, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

[★/★★/★★★]

System Requirements

According to A18 website, http://albatross18.com/season2/downloads/downloads.asp?sid=10, these are the requirements. Are there differences between the requirements for different servers?

CPU Pentium III 800Mhz Memory 256MB Platform Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP Graphics Card Geforce 2MX or higher Direct X Version DirectX 8.1 or higher

--Blitzwing01 06:23, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Version Content Table

Is there a newer version of this available? Albatross18 has both Arin and Pang Battle Mode, which are not reflected on the chart. I'm removing it until a newer version can be uploaded. Rituro 15:06, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Albatross18

Albatross18 redirects to this article, but it is not explained what that is or how it relates to this.

Right in the opening of the article it says, and I quote: "PangYa currently has servers in Korea, Japan, Thailand, Brazil, Indonesia, Taiwan, Philippines, China, Singapore (serving South East Asia as well) and the US (known as Albatross18)". In other words, Albatross18 is the North American version of PangYa. Rituro 14:38, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

If "Biohazard 2" redirects to "Resident Evil 2," why does "Albatross18" redirect to "PangYa?" Unless I'm missing something, this seems like an inconsistency.

A18 is used exclusively for the American server. All other servers (including the new European server) are called PangYa. Therefore, PangYa is better known than A18. --BPM 03:14, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Fansites

First, thanks for making the Level 2 headline for when I added the part with the approved listings page, whoever did it. Secondly, i'm just stating a reason for this edit. The good will do for the matters listed:

  • Avoids malicious websites
  • Enables only quality websites within the list, no junk sites that waste the owner's time and a visitor's time.
  • Significant to the staff and visitors
  • Provides reliable information in your own language.

I hope people understand. Thanks. --AOL Alex 20:54, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I figured that if official sites have their own level 3 heading, then fan sites ought to have one, too. It may be desireable to add some well-known fansites to the article, however. --Kakurady 13:15, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Not recommended... start one, flood all. Do you understand what i'm trying to say? --AOL Alex 21:20, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes. --Kakurady 10:01, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Characters and Caddies in PangYa main article deleted?

Did the Characters and Caddies in PangYa main article get deleted? I guess there's no point in keeping the link on this page. Akadewboy 21:47, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Drama on JP servers.

On April 9th (today as I write this) I added a small paragraph about foreign credit card usage on the japanese server. I put it under 'criticisms' because that's where it makes sense to go (to me), but I also noteice it could go in 'concerns' and even 'currency' if you stretched it. If any one of you who work on this page want to move it around please do, but don't delete it because it's important information.

Massive cleanup work

Before you revert the edits I have made please read WP:NOT. Most of the information here was not in encyclopedic form and was written as a game guide. If you wish, you can go under history and copy the information from the page before I edited it and paste it to http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Main_Page. Please note that Wikipedia is not the place to unload every detail about a game. If you wish to readd topics and content from before, make sure it is not an indiscriminate collection of information and in encyclopedic form. Chocobo10 01:54, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

I added much!

I add About Special Shot,Character,Caddie,Potions I hope it will useful for someone ^^

                                               Topicle

I would clean this up, but i don't have the time. Could someone check and rewrite this info please? Smashtennis 16:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Information like that does not belong to an encyclopedia. Please refer to WP:NOT for more information. Miyuki 00:31, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

IMO Some general information doesn't hurt, though they should be limited to 2 sentences max. --Kakurady 10:03, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Game footage, Safe to assume it's captured by uploader concerned? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:48, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

What are you even asking? And why does it matter? The link is to exactly what it describes (which if you went and watched it, you'd see). Now, weather or not the article should have the link (or even much of the possibly game-guideish stuff currently in there) is a different matter, but it seems like you're on a crusade to remove any YouTube links whose "status is unclear" without quite defining what that means. Between this and the IMSLP thing, I really have to wonder, but I'll WP:AGF for the moment (and no, I'm not stalking you, this page was on my watchlist). ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ (talk) 15:55, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
It matters, because it's generally considered bad form to link to copyvios. game footage is something of a grey area.

In respect of the IMSLP links these are likley to be reverted based on your comments, can you leave a note on my talk page? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 01:55, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Regarding "current servers"

" PangYa currently has servers in Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia(Closed), Taiwan, Europe, the Philippines(Closed), China(Closed), Singapore (serving Southeast Asia as well)(Closed) and the US (known there as Albatross18).

However, the Philippines server has ceased operating effective 21 January 2008, and the Southeast Asia server ceased operation on 25 August 2008. The Taiwan server will cease to operate in February 2009. "

If it says currently, why do someone typed a "closed" there? Couldn't you type it below? I have modify it. If you have any problems, please post here. thanks.

LordThrall 15:28, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

What happened is the nature of wikis -- someone added/edited updated info without fixing any info it contradicts. Since it IS a wiki, fixing it yourself is easy enough (which I see you in fact did). ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ (talk) 12:20, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Characters/Caddie Information

The names of them can vary depending on the version such as Hanas name in the GOA pangya and the Korean one. Conisder updating the ones that change to include all veriations of name? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ACoolName (talkcontribs) 13:27, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

How does a golf MMO have characters with such extreme backstories? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.1.223.254 (talk) 12:51, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

The names of the characters are no longer varied since goa closed down its pangya servers. But there are 11 characters now. J4lambert (talk) 23:21, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Notability

See this naver news search [2]. Ridiculous amount of articles about the game. Released in several countries. notability shouldn't remotely be an issue for this article.--Crossmr (talk) 00:12, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Fixing

there is some fixing need to be done in this article, mainly the terminology, it isn't necessary and some of it could be incorporated into the gameplay such as game modes and special shots. The ages of the characters are trivial, so they can be removed without question. things that really need to be done is add reception, add references, and adding story section is already covered on top.Bread Ninja (talk) 01:29, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
