Terrorism

[edit]

I think the Red Crescent Society has been known to use "medical" immunity to transport terrorists and weapons, and has lied about events in order to slander Israel.

MSTCrow 02:30, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You think ??? Good for you, but do you have any reliable non-propagandist sources to confirm this slander against the Palestine Red Crescent Society ? --Moumine70 (talk) 15:14, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Literal video evidence on Oct 7 . Prcs are terrorists. 69.9.134.186 (talk) 05:17, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Moumine70 and MSTCrow, How about here [1] and here [2] ? Try googling that as there are many...many... many more. Even have videos.--Degen Earthfast (talk) 16:51, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plus

Here [3]

here [4] A WHO document especially

" WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION FIFTY-SIXTH WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY A56/INF.DOC./6 Provisional agenda item 19 16 May 2003

14. There have been several proven cases of misuse of Palestinian ambulances to transport ammunition or explosive belts or to transfer terrorists."

More [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12]

AND, what are "reliable non-propagandist sources" to you? WHo would be acceptable to you?--Degen Earthfast (talk) 17:16, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WHO would definitely be acceptable. BUT all Palestinian ambulances do not belong to PRCS. There are private ambulances as well, or ambulances belonging to the Ministry of Health or to hospitals. So we must just be careful not to mix up everything. §35 p. 8-9 in WHO Report is ok. --Moumine70 (talk) 14:11, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You mean "WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION FIFTY-SIXTH WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY A56/INF.DOC./6 Provisional agenda item 19 16 May 2003 #35. The Red Crescent closely cooperated with the MDA until April 2002. At that time, the IDF found that Red Crescent ambulances were being used to carry terrorists."--Degen Earthfast (talk) 16:45, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As a medic I abhor any violation of the sanctity and neutrality of Medical facilities/vehicles/personnel.--Degen Earthfast (talk) 16:45, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As a Wikipedian I abhor any soapboxing (WP:SOAP). This information is already included in the article. Be careful not to add more weight that is due (WP:UNDUE). Note also "the IDF found" means the Israel Defense Forces is making this claim. Whether its true or not is another story. Tiamuttalk 18:23, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The WHO document clearly states on it that "At the request of the Government of Israel, the Director-General has the honour to transmit to

the Fifty-sixth World Health Assembly the attached report by the Ministry of Health of Israel." In other words, these are not the words of the WHO and there seems no reason to include them. The allegations come solely from the government of Israel (or various spokespersons or supporters), they've been investigated by a recognised independent body and no evidence of the problem has been found. And even if evidence had been found, Israel's response is in breach of its international obligations (First Geneva Convention) not to interfere with these operations, so their counter-claims cannot be rated very highly. 86.159.244.146 (talk) 18:34, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Note

[edit]
  • Deleted a line stating the movement is a recognised terrorist organisation linked to Al-Qaeda. I suspect it was added by vandal. Logically, a movement recognised by the International Red Cross couldn't be also a recognised terrorist organisation.

Are you on crack?--71.246.30.208 (talk) 10:30, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification needed

[edit]

"There have been several proven cases of misuse of Palestinian ambulances to transport ammunition or explosive belts or to transfer terrorists."

Who is saying this? Can a link be provided for this information? Tiamuttalk 20:18, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Try this "WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION FIFTY-SIXTH WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY A56/INF.DOC./6 Provisional agenda item 19 16 May 2003 #14 and #35" See here [13]--209.213.220.227 (talk) 12:57, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. The speaker in this case in the Israeli Ministry of Health. That is why I added "According to Israeli sources" to the beginning of the sentence. I also removed you addition of this:

Both statements which are countered by the World Health Organization in their [14] WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION FIFTY-SIXTH WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY A56/INF.DOC./6 Provisional agenda item 19 16 May 2003 #14 There have been several proven cases of misuse of Palestinian ambulances to transport ammunition or explosive belts or to transfer terrorists ,and #35. The Red Crescent closely cooperated with the MDA until April 2002. At that time, the IDF found that Red Crescent ambulances were being used to carry terrorists. The Red Crescent personnel involved in this violation were interrogated. The Red Crescent officials were insulted and protested that the MDA did not defend them before the IDF. As a result, the Red Crescent stopped cooperating with the MDA.

A 2003 report cannot counter a 2009 report. Again, the speaker is the Israeli Minsitry of Health. Tiamuttalk 19:26, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Degen Earthfast, please self-revert these edits. The speaker is the Israeli Ministry of Health, not the WHO. An equivalent example would be a report from the UN security Council proceedings where the speaker is Sudan, but we say only the UNSC said this ... Its misleading and wrong. Please self-revert. Tiamuttalk 07:52, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I did it. Tiamut is quite correct. This is a purely Israeli report which has no WHO support at all indicated in that document. An "agenda item" is something proposed for discussion, not something that has been approved. Zerotalk 08:37, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Zero. I've tried explaining it a couple of times now. I hope that Degen Earthfast and the IP editor who keep re-adding it will stop now that another editor has explained in a different way. Happy editing. Tiamuttalk 08:50, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Source for this paragraph?

[edit]

I've removed this:

The result has been an uneasy peace between EMS staff on both sides. Any MDA or Red Crescent ambulance will respond to any emergency if required, and will usually hand off care to the other, when appropriate. The atmosphere is reported to be ‘professional and polite’ but ‘without any smiles or handshaking’.[citation needed]

If someone has a source that would be good. Tiamuttalk 09:48, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good sources to use for expansion

The PRCS also acts in Syria, Lebanon and Egypt. It was founded in Jordan. That part of the organisation is currently not mentioned, I think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.12.12.238 (talk) 19:40, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

More information about hospitals

[edit]

I have created a redirect Emergency medical services in Palestine‎ to a section in this article. I would probably prefer a standalone article instead of a redirect but didn't as

  • There is no information in Wikipedia about other (non Palestine Red Crescent Society) services
  • This article is about a society that provides hospitals and ambulance services among other things, but the article is mainly about ambulance services.

It would be helpful if this article had more information about hospitals and other non-ambulance activities to reasonably enable a split off of this topic Alex Sims (talk) 00:57, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Typo

[edit]

In the line "Israeli authorities have required Palestinian ambulances to undergo a through search when passing through checkpoints", the word 'through' should be 'thorough'. I don't have the ability to edit this article, so I thought I'd say this here so that someone who IS able to edit it can fix it. Thanks!
