The information on first names, customs, etc, was lost when this page was made in to a redirect. I have reverted everything until it is decided where to put this information. Some of it we cant really put it on the family names page. PS The page is no loger wikified. Jameswilson 03:37, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Following Arab Names.

[edit]

"The use of two given names to serve as first name and surname is followed from Arab Muslim customs."

I do recognise a lot of Arabic names for Pakistanis, but I would like to note that the use of two given names is not common in Arabic, actually it's very weird. --Maha Odeh 10:46, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have noticed

[edit]

Pervez Musharraf has the name "Pervez" displayed on the nametape of his military uniforms. So, is Pervez the name he'd have been listed under in the white pages? Thanks. knoodelhed 04:56, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

knoodelhed, at least in Bangladesh, where naming is similar to Pakistan, our armymen usually put on their "most called name" on the nametape, because any other name will not be a unique identifier. I'm guessing that the same applies in Pakistan. Ratibgreat (talk) 14:05, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Most called name

[edit]

I've edited the article to what I think is more accurate. Does anyone know what would be a good one word substitute for most called name? Regarding Pervez Musharraf, I don't think he's listed in the white pages :-). But if he were, he would be under P because his full name Pervez Musharraf begins with it. The white pages have names listed under the first name of the person's full name, however he may write it (sometimes defeats the purpose of the white pages, I know!). The name Pervez appears on his uniform because that's his most called name. --Old duder 09:50, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Random examples

[edit]

Has anyone noticed how RANDOM some of the possible full names are in the examples section? I have strong doubts that at least a few of them are vandalism! In any case, someone should provide explanations for less obvious full names. Ratibgreat (talk) 14:07, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
