Packer (disambiguation) → Packer — Packer currently redirects to Packing (phallus), but it's highly debatable whether "packing (phallus)" is the primary topic for the term (see, for example, Google or what links to packer). In the absence of a clear primary topic, I suggest moving the disambiguation page to the generic topic "Packer" per disambiguation page naming conventions. —Muchness 23:39, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Oppose. It is my understanding that the noun "packer" is the primary usage of the term. "Packing" should not be redirected to Packing (phallus) because "packing" usually means something else. However, I disagree that the word "packer" primarily means anything but.. well, a packer. Joie de Vivre 23:54, 21 May 2007 (UTC)- The noun packer does not have an article on Wikipedia, and if a term's primary meaning has no article, the convention is to locate the disambiguation page at the generic name. From WP:D: A disambiguation page is usually named after the generic topic (eg "Term XYZ"). "Term XYZ (disambiguation)" is not the standardized name for a disambiguation page, and is only used when there is a primary topic with an article at "Term XYZ". Since there is no primary topic with an article at "packer", convention suggests this dab page should be moved. --Muchness 00:22, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- You're quite right, I wasn't aware of the rules. Support. Joie de Vivre 03:28, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

- Support per nominee: In the absence of a clear primary topic, move the disambiguation page to the generic topic. Note there are several surnames as well. — AjaxSmack 02:51, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Support. The redirect to Packing (phallus) seems completely out of place. older ≠ wiser 13:22, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
