Confusion over the origin of potatoes in the USA

This part is wrong: "The Ozette is a traditional variety whose precise genetic origin is unknown. However, a phylogenetic analysis conducted at Washington State University confirmed that it was imported directly from South America, while all other varieties grown in the United States are derived from imports from Europe.[9][10]"

A substantial portion of varieties developed in the USA come from Rough Purple Chili via Garnet Chili via Early Rose (for example, the common variety Russet Burbank was a seedling out of Early Rose). Rough Purple Chili was imported to the USA from Chile by Chauncey Goodrich and many North American cultivars belong to that lineage. Ozette is thought to have arrived earlier and by a different route, but Chilean genetics dominate in North American varieties and mostly go back to the introduction of RPC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.42.88.150 (talk) 22:54, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
