Sister City Info Needs Updating

[edit]

Hi, i have no idea how to do this myself but the information about our sister city is no longer up to date. Owensboro now has a sister region with Nisshin,Japan. More info can be found at http://www.octc.kctcs.edu/sistercities/

Done. Thanks for the update. Acdixon 13:58, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I removed the link to Moonlite, in keeping with WP:EL, section 4.1. --Horse Badorties 04:57, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea. It has its own wiki article anyway. Acdixon 02:06, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Correction. It did have its own article until yesterday. Acdixon 13:39, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reads like fan page/tourism pamphlet

[edit]

I think there's plenty of room to cut back on some of the flowery, possibly biased, language used in some parts of this article, as well as quite a few spelling errors.

Glenmore

[edit]

To my knowledge Glenmore hasn't been operating as a distillery for decades. If anybody has any information to the contrary, please post it. Otherwise I'll delete that bit about Glenmore in a few days. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.14.127.55 (talk) 17:36, 7 March 2014

Negro boy

[edit]

Twice now someone has changed "negro boy" to "African American man" and once it's been reverted. I'm all in favor of using terms that appear in the sources, but in this case I don't think "negro boy" is appropriate. I question how reliable "Legends of America" is. They cite an unnamed wire report for their wording. I've added a more modern newspaper as a source, and it says "black man." In modern usage it would be unusual to refer to a 26 year old as a "boy". Also "negro" is not much used any more. Kendall-K1 (talk) 20:16, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I can agree with this on all points. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 00:56, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am including this here because it related to the same event. Just what is meant by the statement that the trap was 'released by a mob'? Presumably it only takes one hand to spring the trap of a gallows. Some clarification is in orderToyokuni3 (talk) 23:05, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I added a "cn" tag because none of this was in the cited source. But it seems the source has moved, and the old url now points to different content. I fixed the sourcing, but the point you bring up isn't clear. The source says "the mob charged the gallows after the trap was sprung ... The woman sheriff, at the last minute, decided not to spring the trap." So it seems to say neither the mob nor the sherriff sprung the trap. But then who did? Owensboro Times consideration in media section

[edit]

If notable enough, Owensboro Times should be considered for the media section. The organization produces online only daily news content for the Davies County / Owensboro area. The website has an about section for reference. https://www.owensborotimes.com/about-us/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.250.64.247 (talk) 05:41, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
