Banning

[edit]

Why was it banned? Drutt (talk) 14:08, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This line seems to have flummoxed people as far back as 2007; I've trimmed it down to the bare facts. It implied the film was banned in the UK and that there was a "legal" version of it, but according to the BBFC "All known versions of this work passed uncut."1. The certificate is dated 2001, and the lack of substantive information about a ban or cuts implies that it was simply not given a wide release rather than banned. It definitely appeared as part of Channel 4's series of banned films - but was it banned in the UK? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 14:07, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, after reading a bit more, it seems that Channel 4's red triangle series wasn't of banned films at all, just films that were potentially controversial. I recall the channel showing a series of a genuinely banned films some years later - it had Life of Brian (religion), W.R.: Mysteries of the Organism (cocks) - but that was a separate thing. In fact Wikipedia has an article on it here. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 14:14, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
