Mr. Timm was my next door neighbor in Irvine, CA in the early 1970s. Unfortunately I was too young to appreciate just who my neighbor was. He would tell me stories and showed me photographs of people he had flown with, one of which was Charles Lindbergh who he told me he took up for his first ride in an airplane. I also remember one picture of Mr. Timm with the Wright brothers on either side of him with his arms around their shoulders! He showed me a picture of the very first motor home ever built that he had manufactured. One other thing I remember was a story of him in his younger days riding across the country on a motorcycle and the difficulties that he faced, like having to carry spare parts and tools and the roads were all dirt and finding gasoline was hard to do. He said while he was riding he came upon a great snake migration that was so large it baffled the mind. He also told me he was instrumental in the forming of the army air corps. In Irvine during his “retirement “ he had a machine shop set up in his 2 car garage where he would manufacture parts for obsolete cars. He once made mounting brackets out of aluminum for an oil cooler for my off road Baja bug- he was an amazing man and I wish I would’ve spent more time with him.
