GA Reassessment

[edit]

Now, a year ago, I placed Organization 13 up for GAR. I passed the article but now the editor who made the article into a Good Article want me to review it again. And after looking at the article again, I saw sourcing problems. There are parts of the article that need citations. So I will hold this review for 7 days and will delist if there is inactivity. I believe the article has the following issues:
  1. Criteria 1: Prose
    • Nothing horrible, but minor edits by well-meaning anonymous editors have degraded the quality over time.
  2. Criteria 2: Sourcing (this is the biggie)
    • Unreliable sources:
      • Ref 1, 2, 4, and 15- translated interviews posted on fansite Kingdom Hearts Ultimania[1]
      • Ref 5- translated interviews posted on fansite KingdomHearts3.net[2]
      • Ref 73- review from Worthplaying[3]
    • Unsourced statements:
      • "Due to her being a Replica and not a true Nobody, she was not counted in the Organization as a member, keeping the Organization's number at XIII instead of XIV."
      • "In the 2009 Nintendo Power Awards, Xion was voted the "Best New Character" of 2009 by the readers."
In light of the sourcing issue, myself and other editors searched for the citation information for the original interview sources. However, nothing turned up. To make matters worse, removing the content sourced to the fansites would compromise the comprehensiveness of the article. Such edits would then fail criteria 3.
Hate to say it, but I don't think this article can be salvaged to meet the GA criteria. I hope someone shows up and proves me wrong though. (Guyinblack25 talk 20:53, 6 July 2010 (UTC))[reply]
I tend agree with Guy and may make more thorough comments later, but remind me if you can't find the Nintendo Power citation; I admittedly tend to forget to look for issues when I go home, but I surely have the issue with last year's awards. —Ost (talk) 21:28, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have that issue of NP, so if you could provide it that would be great. (Guyinblack25 talk 21:59, 7 July 2010 (UTC))[reply]
Here's the ref, with the article starting on page 66: "Readers' Choice". Nintendo Power. No. 252. South San Fransico, CA, USA: Future US, Inc. p. 67. {{cite magazine}}: Text "date-March 2010" ignored (help)
Unlike previous years, readers' choices were separated from the editors' and shown with pie charts for nominee votes in each category. Xion is "Best New Character" with the accompanying chart also showing her getting greater than 50% of the votes. There are a few other wins for KH:358/2—including Overall Game of the Year—but nothing else directly related to Organization XIII. —Ost (talk) 23:09, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I added the citation to the article. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:02, 9 July 2010 (UTC))[reply]
The first unsourced one can easily be sourced by a quote from the game and also one from the ultimania.Bread Ninja (talk) 04:44, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
