Gotta say something
[edit]Yeah, um. Oregon is a state, not a town. WHy can't the people of Wisconsin get it together? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.190.57.216 (talk) 10:05, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Naming History
[edit]Unfortunately, the link that is present to the Oregon Historical Society (http://www.oregonareahistoricalsociety.org/documents/articles/village_name.htm) that refers to the history of the town's name contradicts the content of this article. The postscript on that page reads, "* Post Script Florice Paulson's book says the railroad was involved in the naming of Oregon, but subsequent research has shown that not to be true. Once the railroad was established here in 1865, that reinforced the name of Oregon. However, in 1847, Rosell Babbit circulated a petition for a separate township organized under the name of Oregon. This area was under the government of the Town of Rome. On Feb. 11, 1847- an Act of the Territorial Legislature, approved a separate town called Oregon. Oregon Township was created by the division of Rome Township, which included what would become the towns of Fitchburg, Oregon, Dunn and Rutland. Local government was established and elections held. Rueben Boyce as elected chairman. (MW)"[1]
I'm not sure what to do about this, since the citation is correct, and the data is contained within that page, it's just directly contradicted and therefore, seems inaccurate on this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zam Ygam (talk • contribs) 15:27, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
