What is the source of the statement for the order dying with its members?
The main source on this (Ashmole) states (emphasis mine): «The Earl, finding himself obliged, by the gallantry of the action, thought •it to make his acknowledgments thereof, by granting them several Priviledges and Immunities; and, to perpetuate the memory of so signal an attempt, d Insti∣tuted an Order, somewhat like a Military Order, into which were admitted only those brave Women, deriving the honor to their Descendants...»
Wouldn't this mean the status (i.e., belonging to the order) would be inherited? I don't have a clue as to what happened to the order (was it disbanded? did it simply become forgotten?), but it certainly seems that by statue it wouldn't die with the original warrior women.--Gatonegro (talk) 14:31, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
