Main definition?
[edit]I'm unsure of the main definition here; all percussion instruments could potentially be used in orchestras. And hence is the main aim of the article in obscurity. I see three possibilities for the subject of this article:
1. A historical survey of the use of percussion in orchestras.
2. A focus on percussion instruments mainly associated with orchestral use and seldomly used elsewhere, eg timpani and the largest forms of bass drums.
3. The education and praxises of percussionists associated with orchestral applications.

- Since nobody have commented yet I feel I should clarify: The current content is almost a redudant summary of the Percussion article and is not sufficiently applied to the orchestral use. But to improve the aim of the article should be clarified I think. WikiPBia (talk) 15:14, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Agree. It also overlaps the percussion section article. Unsure of the best approach. Andrewa (talk) 07:23, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- Agree too. The article doesn't cite any sources and it's too subjective. I think this article could be made a redirect to the percussion section, because it's pointless to have two articles with the same content – Soaku (talk) 12:52, 5 January 2020 (UTC)

"Demanding" snare piece
[edit]Just changed the description of Bolero from "perhaps the most demanding" snare piece to "somewhat demanding." While the part may be famous, even "somewhat demanding" is a stretch: it consists entirely of two repeated measures which should not pose a challenge for any minimally competent percussionist, and it is certainly nowhere near the "most demanding." Nevertheless, I'm mentioning my change here in case it's at all controversial. Ethanstraffin (talk) 09:47, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
