list of members

[edit]

I removed the list of members, but it was reverted. I don't think the full member list belong to an encyclopedia: wikipedia is NOT a directory, an indiscriminate collection of information, etc. And with Secretary, Inspector and Librarian etc we are almost in the ridiculous. Check i.e. the movies that won a lot of Oscars, you will see a small list of credits (and usually not all the actors in the begging cards). And why to duplicate information that are easily found in the official web site listed in the external link. If nobody have strong objection, I will revert last revert. Look at the page Los Angeles (orchestra) or Los Angeles Philharmonic both of which have mambers listed. But you make your own decision as to what to do. I would would have the members listed as they are the orchestra.Swanstone 13:20, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The second link has a warning: This article or section contains unencyclopedic lists that may require cleanup. before members list. But you raised an important point (I looked only the Swiss orchestras). I try to find a relevant wikiproject to ask about general guidelines. Cate | Talk 14:13, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
