Opium War (disambiguation) → Opium War – At the moment, Opium War redirects to Opium Wars. However, I do not believe there is a clear primary topic for the term "Opium War". When someone writes, or wikilinks to, "Opium War" they could be referring to the Opium Wars, but it's just as likely that they could be referring to one of the specific Opium Wars (First Opium War and Second Opium War), or to a lesser extent, one of the films with this title (Opium War (2008 film) and The Opium War (film)). Oppose; leading the reader to the overview article is perfectly reasonable, and is better than the disambiguation page. The films are not likely to be highly sought, and no one looking for the films ought to be surprised to find themselves reading about the actual war. Powers ^T 13:06, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I agree that the films would not be highly sought. However, when someone searches/links to the singular "Opium War" it is more likely that they are referring to a specific Opium War (either the first or second) than both Opium Wars. Status of Opium Wars treatment as of July 2015

There's been discussion and maybe some progress but then also some setbacks, in Wikipedia coverage of the topic of the Opium Wars (which is everywhere else in the world generally known to refer to the pair of mid 1800s wars in China) and of the disambiguation-worthy topics of a 1967 war and of a film or two. See discussion at Talk:Opium Wars.

There has been back and forth with this disambiguation page linking to the separate treatment (recently at Opium Wars) or not linking to that treatment, and with "Opium Wars" existing or being a redirect to here.
