Expansion

[edit]

Parachuted in the packground and prelude from Operation Bowery with events post-20 April removed. Added references and further reading as they're generic too. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 23:22, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Das boot

[edit]

@Keith-264 Experts in this field recognise that a submarine is a boat, a big clue being the commonly used term U-boat. However ordinary folk might be confused by the following wording;

Two boats of the 10th Submarine Flotilla had been sunk,

For myself, I was wondering if perhaps this unit also operated some small tenders for shuttling personnel to and fro? Particularly in view of the fact their base was a separate island. But I assume we are saying that two submarines had been sunk.

I can see that saying 'Two submarines of the 10th Submarine Flotilla...' would be a bit clunky, so is there a better way of rendering this sentence for ordinary folk? p.s. thankyou! (several times over) WendlingCrusader (talk) 00:00, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for asking; this ordinary folk thinks that since it's a submarine flotilla I doubt that anyone could be confused, no-one has mentioned it since I revised the article so I think we're safe. I'm reluctant to infer the reactions of hypothetical people since it's likely to be a projection. Keith-264 (talk) 08:19, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am that hypothetical person! It was me that was thrown by the wording. But, having asked the question, if you are comfortable with the situation then I will leave it there. WendlingCrusader (talk) 19:34, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tables

[edit]

Put the ships into tables but lacks the equivalent for Axis forces, will try to add this when I get time. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 18:20, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
