Untitled
[edit]This article is totally inadequate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.169.72.186 (talk) 05:16, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- I agree, it sucks pretty badly. 86.127.138.234 (talk) 19:24, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]Is this the right infobox for the operation? I think it's a little strange that it's basically just half blank. Isn't there any alternative infobox or is this the bright one? Terrortank (talk) 11:13, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Besides...
[edit]...being poorly written overall with lots of repetition (including annoying and rather useless "See also" in the middle of the text) this page actually fails to outline anything interesting, including the fact that Pliyev had a bunch of nuclear-tipped Lunas (and nuclear tipped version of FKR-1) at his disposal which he was pre-authorized to launch in case of US invasion... and if he lost contact with Moscow [1]. Also, the US failed to spot the Lunas... or correctly identify the nuclear tipped FKR-1s [2] The page needs a serious overhaul to be a serious article. 86.127.138.234 (talk) 19:40, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
- (much later) I've used single "Further information" links to reduce the distraction that "See also, See also" was causing. Thanks for letting us know. Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:21, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Maskirovka issues
[edit]Reading the one-sided presentation in this article you'd think the Soviets were some ubermaster at this. If you read Fursenko and Naftali esp. pp. 451-452 you'll see a fairly different picture. The Soviets were reasonably successful in concealing the cargo while it was on their ships, but they almost immediately lost all concealment after disembarking it... no matter what it was, SAMs, the actual nukes etc. The only substantial case of bad info on the US side was the mis-identification of FKR-1s as non-nuclear anti-shipping missiles. 86.127.138.234 (talk) 03:37, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Rudolf Anderson
[edit]Rudolf Anderson's U-2 was shot down over Cuba during the operation, I think he should be counted as an American casualty in the military box and get a brief mention in relation to the American surveillance flights over Cuba. RocketsFallOnRocketFalls (talk) 15:49, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
